Calling all July babies: it’s officially ruby season.
According to the American Gem Society, the July birthstone is none other than the ravishing, radiant, and downright regally royal ruby. Treasured for its burning ember colour and vivacity, the ruby is considered the oriental king of gems, and is in exceptional quality even rarer than the diamond.
And yet, the ruby lives close to home. Historically, the Mogok Valley in Myanmar produced the finest and most valuable rubies, renowned for their deep blood-red colour, which often gave them the name of ‘Pigeon’s Blood Rubies.’ Famously, Thailand too boasts a few ruby deposits, as well as the neighbouring regions of Vietnam and India, onto parts of the Middle East and East Africa. The appeal of rubies has managed to span across the globe, featuring in ancient history as a symbol for life force, energy, and vitality, and into contemporary pop culture as leading showstoppers on the braces of Elizabeth Taylor, Princess Grace of Monaco, and even Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.
Bringing you all the right reasons to be the prettiest woman in the room this month, we’ve put together a list of five different ways you can sport the ruby and rock the July birthstone in great style.

Tiffany & Co. Soleste Earrings
One of the most classic ways to sport rubies and flaunt them so in elegant flair, is in a stud earring. These platinum Tiffany & Co. Soleste Earrings (approx. THB 285,045) are a prime example thereof, bringing together two round rubies with a total carat weight of 0.80 and a setting of round brilliant diamonds to frame them. Rubies and diamonds are two famously trusted companions, and this easy-to-wear and quick-to-impress combination is glimmering proof thereof.

Chopard A Delicate Diamond and Ruby For You Ring
Rubies have something highly regal about them, which is why they are so beloved, but which is also why they can often be dubbed as serious and more ‘mature’ stones. However, this need not always be the case. More than just a romantic name, this Chopard A Delicate Diamond and Ruby For You Ring (approx. THB 721,460) boasts a sweet and playful charm, ideal for those who prefer more feminine jewellery staples. Made with 18-carat rose gold, the ring is set with pavé diamonds, and heart-shaped rubies and diamonds make up the floral motif. Poetic.

Bucherer Chain with Pendant
Granted, rubies don’t really do ‘casual’, but if you wanted to wear the July birthstone in a relatively casual manner, a pendant on a chain is the way to go. This one from Bucherer (approx. THB 60,630) features an 18k white gold chain, with a round-cut ruby with a total of 0.63ct, and 12 brilliant-cut diamonds at a total of 0.06ct. A beautiful way to boast a ruby on the daily, the pendant is sure to spruce up any everyday outfit and going-out outfit alike.

Graff Bombé Halo Cluster Earrings
We couldn’t do an entire list for the crimson red stone and not include a single mention of the three royal jewellery houses for rubies: Van Cleef Arpels, Cartier, and Graff. These beautiful Graff Bombé Halo Cluster Earrings (price on request) are a fine exemplar as to why the British jeweller makes up part of the holy red trinity, contrasting a vivid ruby pavé halo with a sparkling cluster of round brilliant diamonds. Sure to draw any and all attention to their wearer. The July birthstone (and its July-borne confidante) wouldn’t have it any other way.
