Travelling is always a glamorous affair for the fashionista. It’s these stylish high-flyers that know how to seek out the edgiest stays and trendiest eats just as easily as they can layer Chanel costume jewellery. Why do fashionistas always seem to have the coolest holidays? It comes down to a combination of well-stocked suitcases, a natural nose for trends, and the most fabulous worldwide friends. Here, we asked five Bangkok fashionistas to share the best place they’ve travelled to this year and what they did there. From lunching with the Prince of Liechtenstein, to designing shoes with Stefano Gabbana, here’s what a few of them have been up to around the world.

“So far this year, the best place I’ve travelled to would be Vietnam. I visited Ho Chi Min City and loved the boutique hotel I stayed at, called the Hotel Des Art Saigon. It’s part of the beautiful M Gallery Hotel collection, and had a wonderful French-colonial aesthetic for the interiors. The spa was fantastic and I loved that they used local products, which were all very good. There’s also some amazing Pho — served hot and wholesome — for you to dig into by the rooftop swimming pool. All the staff there were warm and friendly, and every little detail was pleasant. I just simply enjoyed the gorgeous scent in the air as soon as you walk in.”

“The best place on the top of my list of travels this year would be the Hotel du Cap Eden Roc in France. It’s so glam, beautifully historic, and extremely luxurious. I love well maintained historic properties — the history seems to speak to me. And I’ll never forget the insane views there either.”

“One of the best places I travelled to this year was Vienna, Austria. I was there for a business trip but was able to squeeze in some very interesting visits. One of these was to the private collections in the royal family museums; another was to the winery of Liechtenstein. I was actually honoured to have lunch with H.S.H. Prince Liechtenstein himself that day (full name Prince Phillipp von und zu Liechtenstein) at a Michelin-starred restaurant called Rote Bar. The restaurant was in the Prince’s go-to stay, the Sacher Hotel, which was also where we stayed that trip. I was absolutely in love with the hotel because you can choose from lots of different colours of rooms to stay in. Of course, I chose to stay in the pink room.”

“The best place I travelled to this year would probably be Hokkaido, Japan. Skiing brings me the best feelings in the world and I especially love to ski in Hokkaido — the scenery is just breathtaking.”

“The best trip this year for me was my most recent one to Milan. I was invited by Dolce and Gabbana to their exclusive viewing of the Mens SS2020 fashion show. It was great to meet and chat with Stefano Gabbana and also to see all the work that goes into creating haute couture for the brand. I even designed my own shoes with the team under the DG Altra Sartoria label. The team also toured me around the Salone in Milan, where they gather all of Dolce and Gabbana’s most valuable masterpiece-level couture and accessories. It was a real honour, and I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to go on that amazing trip!”
