After much buzzing anticipation amongst local city dwellers and tickled travel bugs alike, the wait is finally almost over. The Rosewood Bangkok is due to open at the end of this month, reshaping the Bangkok skyline with its impressive silhouette as the debut Rosewood property to grace the Thai capital. Joining the luxury enclave of embassies, office towers, and upscale malls on Phloenchit Road, the 30-storey architectural marvel prides itself in being styled after a modern city centre hotel with the soul of a Thai heritage manor. Here’s a sneak peek of what can be expected inside the ultra-luxurious property bringing its renowned hospitality to Bangkok on 31 March this year.
Bringing to life the brand’s hallmark ‘A Sense of Place’ philosophy, two interconnected high-rise structures stand tall in Phloenchit as a visually striking home to the 159-room hotel. The contemporary form was inspired by the Thai wai greeting, and was designed to be a modern tribute to the Thai spirit. Conveniently connected to the Phloenchit BTS Station, the hotel is easily accessible – an ideal feat in a city where lesser traffic time is the truest luxury.
Rooms at the Rosewood Bangkok will be grouped into three categories: Room (up to 100sqm), Manor Suite (up to 88sqm), and House (up to 291sqm). Each is designed with a flair for contemporary residential living, and an intimate ambience even despite the sweeping floor-to-ceiling city window views.
Riding every wave of Bangkok’s culinary trend scene, the food and beverage options here are set to hit the nail right on the eco-conscious speakeasy-loving head of every city foodie. Four dining outlets are situated within the hotel: Lakorn European Brasserie, Northern and Southern Chinese Nan Bei, farm-to-table cafe G&O, and stylish speakeasy bar Lennon’s.
Beyond dining, there also a few recreational facilities available. The Rosewood’s signature spa, Sense, brings to life ancient Thai beauty rituals for a range of rejuvenating and relaxing treatments. At the sky lap indoor-outdoor saltwater pool, guests can float along to panoramic views of the city, whilst those hankering for a workout with a similarly Instagrammable vista can head to the fitness studio on the 9th floor. Meeting and event facilities are also available, with 320sqm of space to bestow any special occasions.
To bring its grand arrival into true Thai form, the Rosewood Bangkok has launched a special social media campaign entitled ‘#WaiBangkok’. Collaborating with distinguished photographers Tum Chanipol Kusolcharttum and Scott Woodward, the campaign invites people to share images of their favourite hidden gems around the city, and show why they love Bangkok. Participants are encouraged to use the hashtag #WaiBangkok with a tag to Rosewood Bangkok’s Facebook or Instagram page, and the winner will receive THB100,000 credit to spend at the hotel.
A contemporary means of bringing the traditional Thai greeting to life for the launch of the exciting new urban travel destination, here’s welcoming the Rosewood Bangkok in the most beautifully cultured way the city knows how: with a wai.
Note: Reservations for the Rosewood Bangkok are now being accepted, with opening offers available at rosewoodhotels.com until 30 June 2019.
