Next year, the hospitality industry is set to bloom even more, with a number of hotels already announced to open in various parts of the globe. These hotel openings by some of the world’s most renowned hospitality brands are set to be icons in their respective destinations, whether it’s India or the Maldives.
So without further ado, here are some of the most anticipated hotel openings for 2019 to look forward to.
Six Senses’ first resort in India opens next year in Rajasthan. Called Six Senses Fort Barwara, the property will offer 48 gorgeously-designed suites located 68 miles southeast of Jaipur, in the village of Chauth ka Barwara on the site of a 700-year-old-fort owned by the Rajasthani Royal Family. Six Senses Fort Barwara derived its name from the Chauth ka Barwara Mandir temple, which it sits directly opposite.
Slated to open in late 2019, the hotel will feature two restaurants, bar and lounge, 30,000 square foot spa and fitness centre, two swimming pools, banquet space, retail boutique and kids club. Rooted in the rich history of the 14th century fort, the design will include traditional gardens and water features — to reinterpret the regal ambiance experienced at Rajasthan’s royal forts and palaces. Additionally, there will be an impressive Six Senses Spa located in the original women’s palace, which will feature an extensive ayuverda program, meditation and Six Senses Integrated Wellness programs.
Hong Kong’s highly anticipated opening, Rosewood Hong Kong, is set to open on the new Victoria Dockside arts and culture district. Boasting a prime harbourfront location at the former New World Centre on Salisbury Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, the ultra-luxury hotel will occupy 43 floors of a multi-use tower, offering 413 guestrooms, eight dining options, a fitness centre, swimming pool, and the first urban setting for Asaya (Rosewood’s innovative holistic wellness concept). The hotel’s architecture, dreamt up by New York-based Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, will blend classic design elements with references to its vibrantly contemporary surroundings.
Rosewood Hong Kong is set to open in December 2018.
The Residence by Cenizaro will open a second property in the Maldives, The Residence Maldives at Dhigurah. The 173-villa resort is slated to open in Q1 of 2019 in the beautiful Gaafu Alifu Atoll in the south of the Maldives, adjacent to the first property at Falhumaafushi, which it will be connected to by a bridge.
The resort will be home to a Spa by Clarins, 42 metre infinity pool, extensive Dive & Watersports Centre, and offering a relaxation reading lounge and fully-equipped gym. The natural landscape itself provides a haven for nature lovers with pristine sun-kissed beaches, waters to snorkel among stunning coral reefs in crystrl clear lagoons and to dive with marine creatures.
The Farmstead, an exclusive new safari lodge by The Royal Portfolio, will be opening in May 2019 at Royal Malewane in South Africa’s Greater Kruger National Park. This follows the recent refurbishment of the existing Royal Malewane safari lodge, which furnishes the lodge with light oak, tin rooves, wrought iron and gentle hues of blue and white with royal blue, indigo and turquoise patterns adorning the fabrics of sofas on its verandas.
Accommodations at The Farmstead include three Luxury Farm Suites and The Farmhouse, a four-bedroom villa offering private services — including a dedicated chef, butler, housekeeper, safari vehicle, ranger and tracker. The main lodge area will be home to a double spa treatment room, a gym, fire pit and vast deck where guests can relax and take meals while marvelling at the abundant wildlife visiting the adjacent waterhole. The Farmstead will also offer the same safari experiences where guests can take part in unrivalled game viewing and bush tours. Rates are fully inclusive of accommodation, meals, drinks, game drives and bush walks.
