Rewind: The beauty trends we want to keep in 2020

It might be a cliche, but it definitely seems like 2019 has come and gone in the blink of an eye. This time, though, we’re not just bidding goodbye to 2019, but also an entire decade of trends. If the decade was anything to go by, it’s definitely one with too many trends thanks to the advent of social media.

While there are questionable beauty trends – fishtail eyebrows, heart-shaped nails, and more – we’re still sad to see some go and hope those beauty trends make a triumphant return in 2020. Before we say adieu to 2019, let’s rewind and see what top beauty trends in 2019 we’d like to keep in 2020.

Monochromatic makeup

Monochromatic makeup was seen on multiple fashion runways throughout the year. Its simplicity – one shade for eyes, lips and cheeks – looks uniform, yet it’s outstanding on all skin tones. Plus, nothing beats a makeup regimen that only requires one product.

No, we’re not talking about the coveted V-shape facial structure – it’s something way lower than that. 2019 was the year we saw more products and facials for the vagina. Facials for the vagina, also known as the v-facial is becoming increasingly popular among women who want to treat their lady parts to a little something special. Since you’re spending a fair bit of money on hair removal treatments, why not treat it to a good facial too?

Graphic liner

Graphic liners in various forms and colours have appeared multiple times this year. Some are thick and bold, some thin with negative spaces, and some are bright and colourful. This makeup trend may not be suitable for an everyday look, but one can always improvise and we’re excited to see what shapes it’ll take on next year.

Laser treatments

As much as we enjoy our 30-minute massage during a facial session, non-invasive treatments are the ones that show the most prominent results. Many people often mistaken them as invasive and painful, while in fact, it’s quite the opposite. These treatments use ultra-short bursts of energy from the machine and into the skin in just picoseconds. It’s also proven to be three times more effective than a regular laser treatment. Impressed yet? We’re crossing our fingers for more of this tech in 2020.

“No makeup” makeup

A classic favourite — not just in 2019 but perhaps the entire decade. The “no makeup” look is a favourite of many fashion giants. Models were seen with the most minimal amount of makeup, allowing the skin to shine through. This also gives us a pretty solid reason to care for our skin more.

Jolin Lee

Unlike most modern-day millennials, Jolin does not need caffeine or alcohol to power through the day (and night). Her eye for beauty is as sharp as her eyeliner flick, and she can spot your unblended eye makeup from a mile away.
