Dave Chappelle returns (in Rick Owens) for a fifth Netflix special

The Godfather of American Comedy is back on Netflix with a new special, called “Sticks and Stones”, on August 26. After a decade-long hiatus (and an impressive set of four different specials with Netflix since 2017), the legendary stand-up comedian comes back for one of the most anticipated comedy events of this year.

The announcement came via a trailer posted on multiple Netflix accounts, from Youtube to Instagram. The 60 seconds video features the comedian, apparently stranded in the middle of what seems to be salt flats. See below.

Dressed head-to-toe in Rick Owens, the mastermind from Ohio doesn’t talk. He just walks toward a white set, sits and watches the camera as it zooms in on the comedy veteran, while Morgan Freeman delivers yet another hilarious voiceover for Dave Chappelle. The special was recorded earlier this year, in a yet unknown location.

If you’ve been following his comedy, you know what to expect from the Grammy award winner. Dark humor about contemporary societal topics and hilarious, unexpected punchlines, paired with a sense of relevance only the likes of Richard Pryor could display.
