Famed for his signature red soles, Christian Louboutin’s designs have always been about the vision of a woman walking past and leaving a strong impression. Now, having already launched nail polishes and lipsticks, it’s only natural that his latest beauty project is a series of alluring scents.
These three brand-new fragrances, Bikini Questa Sera, Tornade Blonde and Trouble in Heaven, have been designed to represent distinct female personalities. The Bikini Questa Sera has a sensual and intimate character with a blend of jasmine and tuberose; the Tornade Blonde is sweet and feminine with its red rose, violet and cassis; and the Trouble in Heaven being the most intoxicating and mysterious with the mix of iris, patchouli, tonka absolut and amber.
Unlike other perfumes in the market that are usually layered with top, middle and base notes, Louboutin’s fragrances are formulated to micmic the stroke of a single high-pitch piano key — or a vibrating ‘ping’, as the designer puts it — to feature one note that remains unchanging and reverberates straight through from top to bottom. The glass bottle, meanwhile, is a collaboration between the designer and esteemed British architect Thomas Heatherwick, and it consists of a central aperture to create a sense of movement and life within.
All three fragrances, each priced at HK$2,400, will be available in Hong Kong from 7 October at Lane Crawford IFC, and from 15 October at the Christian Louboutin boutique.
