Fenty Beauty lands in Hong Kong: here are all the must-haves

One of the most talked about celebrity-started beauty brands at the moment is none other than Fenty Beauty — prized for its commendable inclusivity in makeup shades as well as its highly researched longwear formulas. Named after her own surname, Rihanna’s brainchild was launched under the LVMH mantle and has swiftly garnered a cult following throughout Hong Kong even before its brick-and-mortar launch.

Previously only available in Hong Kong via online channels, Fenty’s presence is about to get a whole lot bigger with the brand’s arrival in the SAR on 3 September, coinciding with the grand opening of Sephora Hong Kong. To fuel every makeup lover’s wish list, we pick 10 must-have products for your Riri-inspired beauty arsenal.

1. Pro Filt’r Hydrating Primer

Fenty Beauty must haves - Hydrating Primer

The heart of Fenty is all about the ‘Fenty Face’ — replicating Rihanna’s obsession with a flawless face, with makeup that lasts all day even under the camera lights. The first step is this hydrating primer (HK$268). Absorbing quickly, plumping and smoothing out imperfections with grapeseed oil and sodium hyaluronate, this primer makes for the best base.

2. Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation

Next of course is foundation. For a long time we loved the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation, which gave an infallible matte finish that lasted all day in Hong Kong heat. Truly awe-inspiring. Now, its latest formula (HK$298) gives off a more hydrating, satiny finish that’s perfect for people with combination or dry skin. If you prefer a matte look, the right setting powder will help make sure your face stays shine-free, while avoiding the inevitable dry spots with the older matte formula. Best of all, it’s once again available in 50 groundbreaking shades from the fairest of fair to the darkest of dark.

3. Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder

Fenty Beauty must haves - setting powder

This superfine, anti-caking setting powder (HK$268) is available across five translucent shades, from complexion-brightening lavender to a warm spicy nutmeg. It can be buffed onto bare skin for that flawless, photo-ready skin filter; ‘baked’ using a heavy dose of powder to set naturally on the skin before dusting off excess; or simply patted on problem areas with the powder puff.

4. Sun Stalk’r Instant Warmth Bronzer

Fenty Beauty must haves - sun stalkr

Here we get into Riri’s love for a healthy bronze glow, with the Sun Stalk’r pressed powders (HK$258) to help you fake that ‘fresh from vacation’ face all year round. Available in five versatile and universally flattering shades, each powder can be brushed on for a smooth and creamy, easily blendable finish. With a super-subtle shimmer, it’s as suited for face contour as much as an all-over bronzed glow — it just depends on the brush you use.

5. Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid Lip Colour

Fenty Beauty must haves - Stunna Lip Paint

We fell in love with the universally flattering tones and lightweight liquid lip formula in the Stunna (HK$208) when it first launched with the ruby red Uncensored. It’s since launched seven more shades, ranging from a vivid pink to bright coral to even a smooth black. Our new favourite just might be Uncuffed, a pinky mauve that can take you from desk to drinks, no problem. It boasts an amazing 12-hour hold to boot — seriously, the colour clings on wonderfully without feathering even when you’re sipping cocktails, eating or beyond.

6. Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer

Fenty Beauty must haves - gloss bomb

More on that universally flattering colour: The Gloss Bomb lip gloss (HK$158) is an unsticky lip product that can pretty much replace my lip balm any day, thanks to its addictive fruity vanilla scent and incredibly hydrating shea butter formula. Swipe it on thinly for instantly repaired chapped lips, wear it alone for a day of errands, or layer over lipstick for a luscious shine.

7. Fairy Bomb Shimmer Powder

Fenty Beauty must haves - Fairy Bomb

Everyone swoons over Fenty’s highlighters, and this later addition to the collection amps up the shine with a true multitasker (HK$238). The ultra fine glitter is the stuff of dreams, sweeping onto eyes, cheeks, decollete, body or wherever you please with a smooth metallic payoff. Whether it’s lightly dusted or patted on, the luxe effect this adds to your look is irresistible.

8. Flyliner Longwear Liquid Eyeliner

Fenty Beauty must haves - flyliner

This fast-drying eyeliner (HK$168) delivers crisp, solid lines and unsmudgeable, even application. The triangle shape of the pen also makes it more ergonomic, making it even easier and more comfortable to draw a smooth line of ink.

9. Invisimatte Blotting Powder & Portable Touch Up Brush 130

Fenty Beauty must haves - invisimatte

Needing to be always photo-ready, Riri never faces the cameras without blotting away any potential shine. The Invisimatte Blottine Powder (HK$208) is just the thing: a pore-diffusing complex that absorbs grease without looking cakey or settling into pores and lines. It’s the ultimate final step of makeup. Partnered with the portable touch-up brush (HK$228) which snaps into place with a magnet, it’s super handy for mattifying on the fly.

10. Brow MVP Ultra Fine Brow Pencil & Styler

Fenty Beauty must haves - brow mvp

Launching in stores 3 September, Fenty’s latest product (HK$168) blesses fans with easy, natural-looking brows that Rihanna herself would approve of. It features a longwear, waterproof, smudge-resistant formula and a unique paddle style brush to tame stray eyebrow hairs. In true Fenty fashion, Riri also made sure to serve the hardest-to-match hair colours, hence the pencil is available in eight shades from dark ash blonde to soft black.

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna products are available at T Galleria by DFS, Sephora Hong Kong, Harvey Nichols, Beauty Bazaar and Beauty Avenue on 3 September.
