All the magnificent festive events in Bangkok to add to your calendar now

The end-of-year festive season in Bangkok is a magical affair. The Thai capital comes second to none when it comes to Christmas and New Years festivities, as we join hands and hearts in a city-wide celebration of joy and prosperity. At the heart of it all and in the midst of the capital’s most buzzing district, OneSiam has been proving year after year how to best indulge in the festive season, what with new and exciting events for all ages.

Following a Magical Tale theme, visitors to Siam Paragon should come with their cameras at the ready, as the shopping and entertainment destination will be decked out with elaborate festive decorations by renowned artists, and a host of activities to enjoy. Ever on the wave of millennial favourites, over at Siam Center, the name of the game is a high-tech ‘ho ho ho’. Here, visitors can admire LED decorations and an interactive magical ball pool, moving in merriment and colour. There will also be mini concerts throughout the season by the likes of one of our most beloved boy bands, Trinity. They will also be holding a special workshop with fans, for a chance to embrace the festive spirit with your favourite stars.

Looking for special gifts? Siam Discovery inspires us this year with a varied selection of gifting ideas suited to any and all lifestyles. From eco-friendly presents to customisable presents, The Loft is featuring an array of exclusive and unique pieces to uncover, sure to bring a smile to any receiver. For fashionable friends, definitely check out the pop-ups at Discovery Selection, spanning both local and international brands.

Yet beyond the individually exciting and ongoing events at each of the venues, there are still a number of highlight happenings at OneSiam that you must not miss. From the Balloon Festival to a very, very special DJ, take a look at the best events below, and be sure to mark your calendar now.

November 2019 to January 2020: OneSiam The Magical Tale

For the entire season, OneSiam presents a ‘World Magical Celebration’, featuring a parade of activities from around the world. The entire area will be transformed and decorated with grand festive flair, so definitely keep your ‘gram at the ready. Stroll beneath the bright lights for a romantic evening walk, and immerse yourself in the fairytale.

As we gear up for Christmas Day, OneSiam leads the way with a stunning light and art installation. Importing elements from all around the world, expect these to really illuminate your nights right into January 2020. Again, very ‘grammable, and very magical, as the interplay of colours and lights are sure to wow you.

After you’ve explored the shimmers and sparkles outside, definitely also check out the Christmas trees. After all, what is the festive season without a gloriously decked-out tree? OneSiam adds its own unique spins this year:

Siam Discovery is housing an eco-friendly Christmas tree made from air purifiers, as a really innovative concept and a true must-see. Siam Center brings a twinkle of tech to the game with a multimedia Christmas tree, spreading festive cheer with an array of kinetic effects and geometric patterns. And for those who still wish to revel in a fanciful charm of a more classic tree, Siam Paragon will follow on in traditional opulence as we know and love it at this time of year. Their tree is inspired by a magical old-world fairytale, presented through paper-cut light boxes, all coming together in the form of a castle. It is located next to a dreamy tunnel of lights, sure to transport you into a glimmering and enchanting world of sorts. All three are sure to evoke a little bit of magic in anyone, and taking photos here is a definite must-do.

6-10 December: Balloon Festival

You may have seen balloons before, but you’ve certainly never seen balloons like these before. From 6-10 December, OneSiam presents five days of stories, told through giant balloon characters floating through the sky in the heart of the city. Surely a sight not to be missed, and a great one for kids, especially.
