Shop ’til you drop at Hong Kong’s Christmas markets and holiday fairs

We’re counting down the days until Christmas, and between office White Elephant parties, Secret Santa’s, and filling up your suitcase with presents for your entire extended family back home, your gift list is probably a mile high. Luckily, the next few weeks are jam-packed with Christmas markets and holiday fairs in Hong Kong, so mark your calendars and get ready for the year’s biggest shopping spree.

White Christmas Street Fair 2016

Christmas shopping

Snow might be non-existent in Hong Kong, but that hasn’t stopped Swire Properties from hosting their own version of ‘White Christmas’ every year — a bustling outdoor Christmas fair complete with musical and dance performances, mulled wine and sweet treats, artisanal holiday vendors, Santa’s workshops, and of course, plenty of fake snow to go around. This year they’re hosting two events — a teaser event in Starstreet Precinct (25-26 November) and the main event at Tong Chong Street (1–3 December), with activities including Hong Kong’s first ever snowball fight and the Santathon Challenge, a Christmas-themed digital treasure hunt. It’s easy to get in the giving spirit with all proceeds from street fair activities going towards Operation Santa Claus.

In addition to plenty of stalls to browse and shop around, the festivities will include a holiday raffle, lawn games, arts and crafts, live music, face painters and a select few additional F&B vendors.
