The Macallan Copa

A refreshing twist on a gin & tonic, this cocktail showcases the versatility of The Macallan 12 Years Old Fine Oak. The sweet vanilla notes found in the whisky balance perfectly with lemon and dry sherry to create a balanced base for the zing of the tonic.

Ingredients: 35ml The Macallan 12 Years Old Fine Oak, 15ml Manzanilla sherry, squeeze of fresh lemon, tonic water.

How to make it: Build all the ingredients in a Spanish copa and garnish with a lemon wheel.

Smoked Oak Old Fashioned

Featuring a tease of the rich flavours found in The Macallan Sherry Oak, this classic American sipper is enhanced with the rich European sherry finish of The Macallan 12 Years Old. The smoked salt enhances the charring effect imbued by the European oak casks.

Ingredients: 50ml The Macallan 12 Years Old, 15ml maple syrup, pinch of smoked salt.

How to make it: Add all the ingredients to an Old Fashioned glass and stir together with a small ice cube. Add more ice and a cherry to garnish.

The Macallan 12 Years Old Double Cask Ritual

This ritual allows the imbiber to add an American or European oak finish to their whisky by burning staves. Using American oak will add a hint of vanilla sweetness and citrusy smoke to the glass before it’s coated with the whisky. Burning European oak will coat the glass with a dark chocolate note and rich, fruit-flavoured smoke.

In the photo above, the drink is presented on the burnt stave with a side of salted fudge. This complements the smoked Double Cask flavours and reflects the charring process followed in the cask production.

Ingredients: American or European oak stave, The Macallan 12 Years Old Double Cask, salted toffee or fudge.

How to make it: Burn the appropriate stave and place a glass over the smoke, turn the glass over and pour in The Macallan 12 Years Old Double Cask, serve with a side of salted toffee/fudge.

Sherry Julep

Recreating the flavours and classic drinking rituals of the US and Europe, the classic Mint Julep showcases Scotch whisky’s link to American oak. For this cocktail, introducing Oloroso Sherry enhances the character derived from the seasoning of the casks. This ritual is a blend of two worlds coming together: the Spanish Oloroso Sherry provides a rich, fruity finish to the refreshing julep.

Ingredients: 50ml The Macallan 12 Years Old Double Cask, 20ml Oloroso Sherry, 5 fresh mint leaves, 15ml maple water.

How to make it: Mix all ingredients in a glass with crushed ice and garnish with additional mint leaves.

The Perfect Serve

Pouring The Macallan 12 Years Old Double Cask over a crystal clear ice ball perfectly cools the whisky. A perfect chill-out for the after hours!

How to make it: Add 50ml of The Macallan 12 Years Old Double Cask to an Old Fashioned glass with a clear ice sphere.
