Cinco de Mayo celebrations are in full swing at BaseHall

Counting down the days to Cinco de Mayo. Two, exactly. Fuel up at BaseHall just before boozy celebrations with the foodhall’s Mexican fiesta.

What began as a victorious win by the Mexican Army in 1862 has since transcended — evolved — into a vivacious, larger-than-life celebration of the Mexican heritage, with great food amongst great friends. A concept that fittingly aligns with the one at Jardine’s House BaseHall, poised as a popular gathering point for a joyful sampling of global cuisines; very well explaining its latest happening.

For 5 May, backed by lively Mexican folk tunes by Mariachi Fiesta and soulful Latin sets by DJ Gia Fu, the many known and loved vendors at BaseHall will be dishing out a Mexican-inspired take on their signature dish. Leading the pack, of course, is Westside Taqueria and chef Esdras Ochoa’s coveted tacos — we’re particularly partial to the mango prawn and Baja fish — topped off with the buzzy spot’s punchy frozen margarita.

There’s the resurgence of the classic La Paloma Oaxaca at Pub 1842, which will also have a special Mexican-inspired brew on tap, Lager Al Pastor. And of course, margaritas and Mexican libres are also not amiss; it can’t be an authentic celebration without.

Other worthy creations worth heading over for a sample: Moyo Sik’s ‘Cinco de Moyo’ kimchi carnitas fries, Honbo’s cheeseburger taco and Roti Tori’s Pollo Rostizado, a Sinaloan-style roasted city in reference to the prominent state. TreeHouse comes up with its own Palm Mexican wrap, in it’s same health-conscious beat, with fresh greens, avocado, halloumi, mixed pickles, salsa and chipotle. It’s looking to be a wonderful time. Salud!

BaseHall Cinco de Mayo limited time menu is available for one day on 5 May only, from 6pm to 10pm. BaseHall, LG9, Jardine House, 1 Connaught Place, Central, Hong Kong, +852 3643 0865
