We all love a good pizza — from the crispy crust giving way to steaming pockets of dough, to the tangy layer of vibrant crushed tomatoes, and a limitless assortment of toppings, from spicy soppressata to earthy wild mushrooms and delicious pools of melted mozzarella.

Of course, diving into a freshly cooked pie (especially when your ‘one slice’ ends up being about four or five) often comes with a side order of guilt, with little nutritional value to ease the calorie blow. Well, next month, we have the perfect excuse you need to justify a pizza run around town: To coincide with National Pizza Day (week) from 9–16 February, 19 restaurants in Hong Kong and Macau are presenting special off-menu pies, with 10–20% of proceeds going towards the “Cook for Syria” campaign in support of the Syrian Children Fund. While National Pizza Day officially falls on 9 February, the extended week-long celebrations will give you ample time to put your pizza dollars where it counts.

Here’s where to tuck in to some of these sumptuous limited edition pies around town:

Pajeon, meet pizza.

Jinjuu’s Korean Pajeon Pizza (HK$140) shows off chef Judy Joo‘s signature modern fusion touch with a mix of bacon, kimchi, cheddar and feta cheese, Asian tomato salsa and a mixed leaf salad scattered over a Korean-style pancake. A squirt of fiery chilli mayo tops off the decadent pie.

Ciao Chow

Ciao Chow keeps it simple and classic.

A puffy crust, zingy tomato sauce, juicy artichokes and mushrooms — what’s not to love about Ciao Chow’s Capricciosa creation (HK$172)? Stop by this ground-floor LKF eatery for a taste of pizza heaven accompanied by a glass of sparkling wine.

Jamie’s Italian

Premium Italian ingredients shine at Jamie’s Italian.

Over at Jamie’s Italian, premium toppings are given a simple drizzle of olive oil to let the fresh ingredients shine. Dig into the Ham & Cheese (HK$188) this National Pizza Day, with pink folds of San Daniele prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella, bright green basil, rocket and slow-roasted tomatoes are piled on top of a rustic Neapolitan-style base.

Piccolo Pizzeria & Bar

A meat-lover’s pie with tender curried beef brisket.

Two of our favourite comfort foods collide in this flavour-packed pizza mash-up from Piccolo. The spicy flavour of the curried beef brisket and tendon is tempered with a blanket of melted mozzarella and red onion rings. Washed down with a cold beer, the Ga Lei Beef Brisket Pizza (HK$170) will jolt your senses wide awake.

Lobster lovin’ at Mistral.

How do you give pizza a fancy upgrade? Chuck a whole lobster on top and call it a day. Mistral’s seafood pizza (HK$488) is ideal for those who are watching their waistline — a lighter take on the comfort food fave with a whole Boston lobster scattered on a thin crust with juicy cherry tomatoes and roasted bell peppers.
