The History of Whoo x InterContinental Hong Kong Lobby Lounge

Treat yourself like royalty with the ‘Empress Afternoon Tea’ held at InterContinental Hong Kong’s lobby lounge. Korean luxury skincare brand The History of Whoo uses traditional healing ingredients based on age-old Korean royal beauty secrets, which have also influenced the dainty bites offered in this afternoon tea. Savoury items include ginseng chicken roulade, slow cooked dong quai and pork sliders, and goji berry and foie gras on toast; while dessert items include chocolate cake with a bergamot and jasmine jam, and mango and pear macarons filled with Earl Grey cream. Make sure to leave space for the beautifully buttery hot scones served with jam and clotted cream. Each guest will receive a sample-sized anti-ageing product gift set, plus a card for you to redeem a skin brightening kit at the brand’s Gateway Arcade store.

Book in for a group of four on 27 October or 24 November for a complimentary dried flower bracelet workshop, or on 13 October or 10 November to learn how to make a Korean knot handicraft.

Available through 30 November, Mon-Fri 2:30-6pm, HK$608 for two; Sat-Sun and public holidays 1:30-6pm, HK$628 for two; InterContinental Hong Kong, 18 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, +852 2721 1211

Jurlique x Assaggio Trattoria Italiana

themed beauty afternoon teas - assaggio x jurlique

Aussie beauty brand Jurlique is beloved for its biodynamic, organic skincare, and this afternoon tea created with Assaggio Trattoria Italiana at the Hong Kong Arts Centre is a fantastic refreshing weekend treat to round off the tail end of summer. For the crossover, Assaggio’s brand chef Francesco Gava created his canapés inspired by the four botanicals found in Jurlique’s new body care range: sage, lavender, citrus and rose. Naturally, some of the highlight nibbles include salted sage popcorn, lavender macarons, an orange vanilla puff and lemon and white chocolate cake, as well as an edible rose made with marzipan. The tea set is served with fruit-infused detox water, hopefully to counteract the devilish addition of unlimited freshly baked scones. Yes, for those who don’t mind some extra carbs to balance out the goodness of these light bites, we’re all for it. With the afternoon tea, guests will each receive a travel-sized Rose Body Cream — one of Jurlique’s signatures — as well as additional shopping promotions, plus a coupon to redeem the new Rose Softening Shower Gel in-store.

Available through 29 October, Fri-Sun and public holidays, 3-5:30pm, HK$288 for two; Assaggio Trattoria Italiana, 6/F, Hong Kong Arts Center, Wan Chai, Hong Kong, +852 2877 3999

For savoury items you’ll find such things as foie gras cherry on grilled sourdough, smoked cod rillette with cauliflower and slow-cooked duck confit sausage roll. Those with a sweet tooth will love the gorgeous caramel fuji apple bonbon, a rosewater teardrop jelly with candied rose petals, a sable biscuit with hazelnut-orange cream and single origin dark chocolate. Guests will receive a small gift at the end of the session: a complimentary Clarins’ Mini Lip Oil and Skincare Set, valued at HK$315 each.

Taiwanese makeup pro Kai Chang (also known as Xiao Kai, or Xiao Kai Lao Shi — meaning ‘teacher Xiao Kai’) commands an incredible following across Asia for his work with the likes of Shu Uemura, Chanel and Shiseido. This fall he’s collaborated with boutique property Hotel Stage to create a limited edition afternoon tea to promote the Hong Kong debut of his recently launched makeup line Kai Deluxe. Offered at the sunny, casual eatery Kitchen Savvy, the afternoon tea starts off with a cup of colour-changing butterfly pea flower tea, while a creative roster of small bites are inspired by the bright colours from the Kai Deluxe palettes. From cannolis to cakes, macarons to eclairs, it’s perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth. Each tea set comes with an eyebrow compact and an eyebrow pencil (valued at HK$250). Xiao Kai himself will grace the sessions on 11-12 November to give a special demo on the latest autumn and winter trends.
