This December, you can celebrate the holidays the Ramsay way with a proper British-inspired Christmas at Maze Grill, the UK chef’s newest venture opened on the tip of Ocean Terminal. Boasting stunning 270-degree views of the harbour and the island skyline with its cosy wraparound terrace, Maze Grill is undoubtedly one of our favourite places in Kowloon to sip a cocktail or two at dusk while watching the boats sail by on the harbour. But this Christmas, we’re also eyeing the sumptuous dinner menu served in the elegant dining room, which includes a range of the restaurant’s signature dishes as well as exclusive holiday items.
The extravagant spread is all about family-style sharing, with a range of canapes, appetisers, main courses and desserts featuring on the Christmas menu. Start the festive feast with a pre-dinner tipple while sipping on the creamy Jerusalem artichoke soup, with its rich and velvety consistency whetting the palate.
Inspired by the grill rooms of New York, the steakhouse features a wide array of international rare-breed cuts for carnivores to sink their teeth into. Next comes a spread of sumptuous appetisers to share: plump diver scallops are brightened with spicy jalapeno and green apple, while the signature special confit duck and watermelon salad features a spray of fresh watercress and lotus chips for an extra crunch. In addition to its fitting bright red hue for the holidays, the baby beet salad is likewise a crowdpleaser, paired with creamy burrata for a rich finish.
Choices of main courses offer something for everyone, but carnivores are sure to gravitate straight to the traditional beef Wellington, one of Ramsay’s iconic dishes that’s been perfected over the years. Head chef Gareth Packham adhered diligently to the classic recipe, with a beautifully browned pastry crust encasing succulent and tender ruby red beef spread with mushroom duxelles. The juicy cut is topped off with roasted bone marrow for elevated indulgence.
Those who can’t pass up turkey for Christmas will find Maze Grill’s version of turkey sage stuffing fragrant and delicious, paired with a tart cranberry sauce; while linguini pasta is an all-around crowdpleaser drenched in an aromatic truffle sauce. Finally, for seafood lovers, there’s an Asian-inspired hot smoked miso salmon that goes great with a refreshing crunch of sesame cucumbers.
Make sure you save room for dessert: the sharing-style spread includes Christmas pudding topped with a splash of brandy sauce, coconut and dark chocolate cremeux with sorbet and candied walnuts, and baked apple pie with Calvados custard.
