Italian carmaker Lamborghini unveiled a special edition of its iconic V12 supercar at the recently concluded Monterey Car Week, known to be the international event showcasing some of the world’s most remarkable automobiles. Presented to commemorate the founding year of the marque in 1963, the Aventador SVJ 63 Roadster comes in a limited edition of just 63 units. Following the SVJ 63 coupé, this special launch represents one further expression of exclusivity tailor made for true Lamborghini fanatics.
Created in collaboration between Lamborghini design and Ad Personam teams, the exclusive Aventador offers eight design expressions, with each option offering a unique combination of exterior and interior stylings.
Specifically developed for the Roadster model, the exterior comes with a matte or shiny carbon fibre upper body, which includes the roof, engine cover, engine air vents, windscreen rim and wing mirrors. Leirion forged rims boast a matte titanium finish. The car also wears a special SVJ 63 livery and a special ‘1 of 63’ number plate.
Inside, the new Aventador SVJ 63 Roadster presents a tri-tone colour scheme in Alcantara, featuring carbon fibre elements throughout the cockpit. This is in addition to the lightweight patented CarbonSkin. A badge on the steering wheel and a ‘63’ logo on the rear wall validate the car as one of a limited series (and perhaps, of the collector’s wallet).
But how does it drive? Whilst based on the exceptional track prowess of its predecessor the SVJ coupé, the SVJ Roadster made records at the Nürburgring Nordschleife for a production car. The new Aventador SVJ 63 Roadster delivers 720 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. With a top speed of 350 km/hr, this beast of a car can accelerate from a standing start to 100 km/hr in 2.9 seconds and to 200 km/hr in just 8.8 seconds. With a braking distance of 100 km/hr to a standstill in 31 metres, this limited-edition series showcases Lamborghini’s exceptional performance, handling and aerodynamic superiority.
The Huracán EVO GT Celebration
The Aventador SVJ 63 Roadster was, however, not Lamborghini’s only star at Pebble Beach. The Huracán EVO GT Celebration was also unveiled at the Monterey Car Week.
Another limited edition launch, it pays tribute to the automobile’s twin wins at the two endurance races popularly known as ‘36 Hours of Florida’ — hence the ‘celebration’. With its orange and green graphics, this series brings to mind the livery of the GRT Grasser Racing Team.
The Huracán EVO GT Celebration comes in nine colour combinations. The hexagons on the doors and front hood that frame the number ‘11’ contribute to the vehicle’s racing-car looks. The body can be personalised, on request, with the Lamborghini Squadra Corse shield on the roof, framed by the Italian and US flags.
The interior features other exclusive details, including upholstery in Alcantara, with contrasting stitching in the same colour as the livery. For the first time, the hexagonal plate with shield, flags and laurel, situated between the new racing seats, make an appearance in the Huracán EVO GT Celebration.
While the 63 units of the Aventador SVJ 63 Roadster have already been sold to collectors worldwide, the 36 limited edition pieces of the Huracán EVO GT Celebration are only available for the North America market. Deliveries of both cars are expected to begin in early 2020.
