“I love sunglasses,” says René Chu, founder and creative director of Hong Kong eyewear brand REVÉ by RENÉ. “It’s the only fashion accessory that both reveals and conceals at the same time.”

Born in Des Moines Iowa, the stylish eyewear designer and entrepreneur graduated from product design at the Los Angeles Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. She began her career as a fashion model and the movie wardrobe assistant of Oscar-nominated art director William Chang Suk-Pin. However, with a strong passion and fascination towards sunglasses, she decided to launch her own brand REVÉ by RENÉ, and began to design eyewear for both men and women featuring bold shapes and playful detachable parts from whimsical cat ears to golden vampire fangs and unicorn horns.

Today, REVÉ is stocked in over thirty notable retailers across the world, including LA’s Just One Eye, MOCA museum, Seoul’s Boon the shop and Puyi Optical. Read on to learn more about Chu as she answers our signature questionnaire.
