Paris Haute Couture Week beauty took a turn for the dramatic last Wednesday, as Viktor and Rolf, Elie Saab and Jean Paul Gaultier championed wild, theatrical catwalk beauty looks.
Viktor and Rolf‘s hair-raising beauty look featured vertical tresses (that were crimped, to boot), and an extreme, layered winged eyeliner look that fanned out towards the temples. A nude lip added polish. There were splashes of colour at Guo Pei, where the models sported vibrant eyeshadow hues dotted at the inner and outer corners of their eye sockets for extra impact, with a glossy lip completing the look. At Zuhair Murad it was all about the glow, with a sumptuous beauty look that featured plenty of highlighter for dewy complexions, and a dab of shimmering, pearl-coloured shadow applied to the inner corner of the eye.
Amidst the bare-faced beauty looks at Jean Paul Gaultier were flashes of extravagance, such as a bejewelled eye makeup look that corresponded with the model’s dazzling headpiece.
RVDK Ronald van der Kemp went all-out with bushy curls, ’80s-style blue eyeshadow and a classic, glossy red lip. Finally, Elie Saab put a modern spin on romantic hair and makeup with an angular winged eyeshadow in soft taupe, and the addition of halo-like structures woven into the models’ sleek up-dos.
