BlackPink continues world domination in the fashion realm with Saint Laurent’s latest season

Blackpink in your area.

Even those who are not familiar with K-pop would have to have heard of Blackpink. No? Think again. They are only the biggest, record-breaking K-pop girl group in the world — no biggie.

Rising to global success is just four years, Blackpink’s achievements is as impressive as it gets. Last year, the group made history as the first girl group from any country to be featured on Forbes Asia’s 30 Under 30 list, as well as being the first K-pop group to perform at Coachella. Their newly released single, How You Like That, just set five new Guinness World Records including the fastest music video ever to reach 100 million views on YouTube and more. The track itself? Also broke the record as the highest-charting hit by a K-pop group on Spotify’s main charts, while smashing top charts in the UK and the US. The list just keeps going.

With countless record-breaking achievements, global fame and an empowering image that celebrates girl power, Blackpink — featuring Lisa, Jennie, Rosé and Jisoo (who, by the way, are the four most followed K-pop stars on Instagram) — have also naturally been quickly snapped up by top fashion houses, who all want exclusive associations with the girl group.

Jennie, for example, is already a Chanel brand ambassador, donning pieces from the house all the time. Lisa, meanwhile, is a Celine muse, and has fronted campaigns shot by Hedi Slimane himself. We’re also seeing more and more appearances of Dior creations on Jisoo.

What about Rosé? Though she’s previously sat front row at Valentino, she is, without doubt, a Saint Laurent muse. This status has just been further solidified as the 23-year-old officially became the house’s brand ambassador, following the footsteps of Kate Moss, Zoë Kravitz, Debbie Harry, Cara Delevingne, and Courtney Love.

Spotted fronting the series of videos and photos from the newly dropped Saint Laurent’s Fall/Winter 2020 campaign, Rosé is seen grooving in a one-shoulder lace LBD and a signature pussy-bow blouse in leopard print, all from the latest collection.

Other than ready-to-wear, the house is also introducing a new bag dubbed the Solgerino Satchel for the coming season. So naturally, you can also catch the house’s new South Korean ambassador modelling the piece as part of the seasonal campaign.

Featuring a mechanical closure masked by the house’s iconic monogram, the Solgerino Satchel is available in a rigid version crafted from box leather, and a supple version made using python leather or suede. Both iterations come in two sizes, along with timeless choices of colours including black, cinnamon, red and ivory.

The Saint Laurent Solgerino Satchel is priced at HK$11,900 and HK$22,500, depending on the size and variation. Head to YSL.com to discover more.
