Bottega Veneta reinterprets its iconic design in a brand new city bag

Celebrating both Bottega Veneta‘s 50th Anniversary and Tomas Maier’s 15th year at the helm of the house, the Creative Director presented 15 brand new limited edition bags at the Spring/Summer 2017 fashion show last September, each with a design that stems from the brand’s heritage styles as a tribute to the remarkable craftsmanship of its workshop over the years.

The City Knot, a reworked version of the iconic Knot clutch, is amongst the most coveted pieces, featuring a clean silhouette for a contemporary and fresh approach, as well as the house’s signature twist-knot brunito metal closure with intrecciato motif engravings. To honour Bottega Veneta’s creative roots, Maier also returned to the house’s archive from the 1970s, and reinterpreted the original materials and textures into the new City Knot, resulting in three variations that are urban and stylish but, at the same time, remain true to the brand’s aesthetics.

Modern and sophisticated, the plain version of the City Knot in French calf leather with hand-painted edges (HK$32,000) is the perfect choice for the power woman.

The plain version in French calf leather – a favourite of ours – features a soft and smooth texture and hand-painted edges. The outline works to enhance the geometric shape and make it visually stand out, while managing to retain its elegant and sophisticated appeal. If you’re looking for a more upbeat option, there’s also a plain leather version with a contrasting frontal panel in leopard printed calf hair — offering an instant style boost to any look.

Boost your look with the City Knot bag in calf leather with a contrasting frontal panel in leopard printed calf hair (HK$34,500).

For the vintage lover, we’re loving the goatskin version in an embossed print. It’s entirely made in Capra Lissata, a new shiny leather treatment, to imitate the textures of Bottega Veneta’s archive pieces from the 1970s. The Butterfly motif, meanwhile, was actually a design that was originally introduced in the 70s.

This shiny goatskin City Knot bag is entirely made in Capra Lissata for a vintage look, and decorated with butterfly motifs originated from the 70s (HK$33,000).

The City Knot bag and the rest of the Spring/Summer 2017 collection is now available at Bottega Veneta boutiques worldwide.
