Next year marks the 70th anniversary of Dior, which was founded in 1947. To commemorate the occasion, the iconic couture house is collaborating with Editions Assouline — a favourite publisher of the fashion industry — to launch a series of seven limited-edition books, Each title will be dedicated to one of seven of the Maison’s creative directors — Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons and Maria Grazia Chiuri — who have shaped the history of the brand.

The series will be published over the next two years, and begins with the recently launched Dior by Christian Dior. The 504-page tome features the founder’s most iconic haute couture designs, including key outfits from the Dior archives and private collections pictured on mannequins by photographer Laziz Hamani, as well as iconic original images by mid-20th-century photographers Beaton, Avedon, Clarke and more.

The text, meanwhile, is written by top Parisian fashion historian Olivier Saillard, who first explains Christian Dior’s background in art and illustration prior to being a fashion designer. Saillard also includes an in-depth analysis of Dior’s inspirations, influences and vision, along with warmly recounted details and anecdotes behind each of the 84 selected couture pieces, including the iconic Bar suit.

Beautiful and informative, these seven limited edition books will be your ultimate guide through the couture house’s 70 years of history. You can purchase them from assouline.com.
