Giuseppe Zanotti is known for his stage-worthy footwear, but when the world has been working from home for the most of 2020, ‘comfort’ has undoubtedly become the keyword that reigns supreme in everyone’s mind — Zanotti’s included.
“During my free time in quarantine, I found myself wearing tracksuits,” said Giuseppe Zanotti. “It got me thinking, why wouldn’t I make my own, exactly how I wanted, in exactly the materials I liked? I feel this is a time when we want to look at the essence of things, when we desire long-lasting pieces that we can wear time after time.”
Taking inspiration from his time in lockdown, the footwear designer has come up with a loungewear capsule collection for men featuring tees, sweatshirts, hoodies and drawstring pants, all crafted in Italy using high-quality hypoallergenic cotton.
The line, dubbed the ‘Living Room,’ features an all-black palette, and embellished with the house’s signature elements, such as gold embroidery and exposed zippers. These pieces, sold exclusively on giuseppezanotti.com, shall be split into two global drops, with the tees currently available, and the rest of the collection set to roll out later in the month.
Prices for the collection range from HK$3,250 for crewneck t-shirts and drawstring track pants for HK$5,550. In addition to apparel, the designer is also working on a special sneaker design that will become the star of the line, which we won’t be able to see until the end of the year.
To celebrate the launch, the designer has tapped American skateboarder Evan Mock to premiere the pieces in his L.A. home. “I love Evan’s style and attitude—easy but purposeful,” says Zanotti. See the images below.
