Whether or not you’re a fan of American football, you need to see the mind-blowing performances by Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, who just made history as the first Latinas to headline this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show.
The iconic divas took the stage in Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium wearing show-stopping attires — Shakira in Peter Dundas and J.Lo in Atelier Versace — that showcased their stunning, age-defying figures, as they performed timeless hits including Hips Don’t Lie and Jenny From the Block.
J.Lo, 50, opened the show atop a dancing pole wearing a bespoke Atelier Versace bodysuit in full leather, hand-enriched with thousands of studs, Swarovski crystals and Medusa accents. The biker-inspired look was first concealed with a pink silk satin gown with added Versace chains, before she took it off to reveal the intricate hand-crafted creation that look the house 900 hours to make.
She then did a seamless outfit change, reappearing in a nude-illusion bodysuit crafted from sheer tulle (paired with matching gloves and ankle boots), with reflective metallic leather inserts and lustrous plastic elements strategically embroidered in a mosaic pattern across the body, accentuating her impressive curves. There was, of course, lots of hand-sewn Swarovski crystals to maximise the shimmer.
The music icon transitioned into her final look wrapped in a feathery U.S. flag, which she then opened up to reveal the Puerto Rican flag on the other side. The emblematic white, blue and red gave a striking statement, both visually and politically, set against the silver-toned harness she added on top of the mosaic catsuit. The look was highlighted with beading Swarovski crystals and signature Metal Mesh, which were manually twisted into metallic fringes that swings along her every move.
