Once upon a time, fashion shows were exclusive affairs and invitations were only sent out to buyers, fashion journalists and the top stylists. Over the past few years, however, the rapid development of technology, social media and all things digital have made these shows so accessible that designers have been forced to stop and rethink their game. Now, instead of presenting new collections a season ahead of the retail calendar, designers such as Burberry and Tommy Hilfiger are embracing this digital evolution with a ‘see now, buy now’ strategy. For you, the consumer, that means no longer having to wait six months until the new creations hit the stores. In fact, in some cases you can buy new designs the day after they’re presented.
As we mark the start of New York Fashion Week, Tom Ford, who canceled his Fall/Winter 2016 runway presentation in February to officially align his shows with retail schedule, will present the brand’s first-ever in-season fashion show for both menswear and womenswear at 9:15pm on 7 September in New York City (9:15am on 8 September 2016, Hong Kong time). We’re happy to bring you the live broadcast of the show, which you can watch below. If you happen to fall in love with any of the looks, note that they will be readily available this Friday (9 September 2016) at Tom Ford’s IFC store!
