Louis Vuitton’s new ‘Time Capsule’ exhibition kicks off in Hong Kong this month

With a rich history that can be traced back as early as 1854, it’s no simple task to pinpoint the myriad traditions and innovations over time that have helped shape Louis Vuitton into the iconic heritage brand it is today. Lucky for us, the luxury house has just announced that its newest travelling exhibition, Time Capsule, will begin its journey in Hong Kong later this month. The show will offer a thorough look at the significant moments that have played a part in the maison’s history over the past 163 years.

The exhibition will take place at the Statue Square Gardens in Central from 22 April to 14 May, timed to coincide with the Silver Jubilee (25th anniversary) of Le French May. Free to the public, the exhibition will give visitors the chance to revisit the landmark innovations — particularly in technology and design — that have been crucial to the enduring legacy of Louis Vuitton.

Louis Vuitton’s bags and trunks are made using traditional leatherwork skills by French artisans.

Time Capsule will feature French artisans demonstrating traditional leatherwork skills, which remain as relevant today as ever before. The exhibition will follow a visual timeline of historic moments for LV, with five key sections: ‘Codes of the House’, ‘Journeys around the World’, ‘Elegance and Beauty in Motion’, ‘Icons of the House’, as well as a ‘Celebration of the House’s Past and Present links with Hong Kong’.

The Louis Vuitton family house will be a key focus in the ‘Time Capsule’ exhibition.

As an added bonus, visitors will also be given unprecedented access to some of the most valuable pieces from the Louis Vuitton archive, to be showcased alongside specially curated artworks by local Hong Kong artists. That makes this special show one to put in your diary immediately.

‘Time Capsule’ is open to the public from 22 April to 14 May, from 10am–8pm daily.
