In this new monthly series, join us as we dive deep into the closets of Hong Kong’s best-dressed individuals. From statement footwear to indispensable wardrobe basics, our “Style Heroes” share some of their favourite pieces with us and, in the process, give us glimmers of insight into what defines their personal style.

Take a stroll around the busy streets of Hong Kong, and you're guaranteed to spot a number of stylishly dressed ladies at every turn. Fashionable gents, however, seem to be relatively harder to come by. It might be because of the less flexible corporate dress codes, or perhaps men just generally prefer to direct their attentions elsewhere. Whatever the reason, Charles Lam makes sure he's one of the few exceptions. Born and raised in Hong Kong, the fashion influencer and creative director started his career in all sorts of industry roles from modelling to copywriting and advertising. At the same time, he paid close attention to how the world consumes fashion and, in 2011, he was amongst the first generation of style influencers to jump on Instagram. To this day, he continues to share his style inspirations to his many followers through beautifully curated photos of his daily attires, frequent trips to fashion weeks and more. He also published a book, Behind the Scene, with fellow model Anjaylia Chan in 2016, inviting readers to take a glimpse behind the curtains of the kaleidoscopic worlds of fashion and entertainment. Responding to the growing demand for video content, he recently founded a production house to produce videos for fashion brands and retailers. His latest clients? Marc Jacobs and Lane Crawford. But that's not all: Determined to be amongst those who influence and inspire the way we dress, he's currently working on a collaborative collection with a local brand, through which he'll share his love of 'soft masculinity' and gender fluidity in fashion, both promoted in recent creations by top fashion houses around the world. We asked Lam to show us 10 of his favourite fashion pieces, which he shows off here in three recommended looks for the Fall/Winter 2019 season ahead.
