In this new monthly series, join the editors of Lifestyle Asia as we dive deep into the closets of Hong Kong’s best-dressed individuals. From statement footwear to indispensable wardrobe basics, our ‘Style Heroes’ share some of their favourite pieces with us and, in the process, give glimmers of insight into what defines their personal style.

Known for her distinctively modern and avant garde aesthetics, fashion stylist and art director Chloe Mak didn't always have her mind in fashion: She was, instead, keen to pursue a career in graphic design growing up. However, while attending London’s Central Saint Martins -- the school famous for its endless list of high-profile alumni from Alexander McQueen to John Galliano, Phoebe Philo, Riccardo Tisci, Zac Posen, Sarah Burton, Stella McCartney and many more -- Mak discovered a talent and passion for creating beautiful visuals with clothes. From then on, she began moonlighting as a fashion styling assistant, and the rest, as they say, is history. In 2015, she founded her own fashion styling firm CMFC, and continued on with her passion of mixing and matching clothes, which she sees as a form of visual art. She grew popular amongst celebrities, and has collaborated with some of the biggest names in Hong Kong’s entertainment industry including Joey Yung, Nicholas Tse, Angelababy, Cheung Chi-lam, Aarif Rahman, as well as Taiwan’s Jay Chou. Recently, she’s been focusing more on fashion editorial work, and has been busy attending fashion weeks in Paris, Milan and Shanghai. This month, she’ll be off to her first New York Fashion Week, where she'll be amongst the first to have a sneak peek at the latest runway debuts for the Spring/Summer 2020 season. Before she sets off on her journey, we caught up with Mak and asked her to share her 10 favourite Fall/Winter 2019 pieces she currently has her eyes on.
