After what seemed to be a never-ending obsession with the ’90s in recent seasons, the fashion industry is collectively moving on to the excessively glamourous ’80s come fall, bringing back to the runway all the unapologetic glory from the era through an array of sparkles, puffed shoulders, neon brights and more.
Saint Laurent has always been an expert in this particular aesthetic, and for the Fall/Winter 2018, creative director Anthony Vaccarello has created a major throwback to the era by sending an almost entirely black collection down the runway — each look completed with unforgettable standout pieces such as oversized fur coats, dresses with exaggerated shoulder pads, short shorts and embellished head wraps.

Completing such unabashedly high-profile ensembles requires, of course, an equally elevated shoe design, and Saint Laurent’s new Billy ankle boots are certainly capable of taking outfits to new heights with their towering platforms and extra chunky curved block heels.

All boots are crafted in Italy, and are available in a range of leather including calfskin, python, suede and eel, with some of them featuring side panels that evoke a western-inspired flair, while others come with cuff straps with a metal buckle, sequinned floral or silver embroideries for an extra boost of personality and style.

If platform boots are too big and chunky for your liking, the Parisian house has also launched a series of sultry Teddy pumps with sky-high stiletto heels for those who crave a mix of contemporary edge and classic elegance.

To give us a better idea of the ultimate edge and glamour offered by the new seasonal footwear, Saint Laurent has tapped world-renowned photographer duo, Inez & Vinoodh, to produce its latest Winter 2018 campaign images and videos, which you can watch below.
