Possibly one of the most exciting and unexpected collaborations for the fall fashion season, Swedish fashion house Acne Studios and British heritage brand Mulberry have joined hands to launch a capsule collection, bringing together the celebrated off-beat Swedish design of the former and quintessential English charm of the latter in a range of limited-edition bags and small leather goods.

To commemorate the collaboration, the houses created a new logo for the capsules by merging the letters of Acne Studios into Mulberry’s iconic tree emblem. “This is a collaboration about friendship and our freedom as brands to do what we want to do,” says Jonny Johansson, creative director of Acne Studios. “It is a conversation between Acne Studios and Mulberry, one that is founded in mutual respect and a desire to make great product.”
While both brands have been carefully keeping the collection under wraps, we’ve just got hold of a series of images for a preview of what to expect from the capsule. They reveal a range of leather bags (some in Mulberry’s signature Scotchgrain leather) including a crossbody satchel, a messenger bag, a flap tote and a shopper tote in colours of oak, black and pink, all sprinkled with elements from Acne Studios’ iconic Musubi bag and Mulberry’s Bayswater bag. The first three feature multiple leather buckle straps — a signature of Mulberry — while the shopper is embellished with Acne Studios’ twisted knot motif inspired by the traditional Japanese obi sash.
Accompanying the bags is a range of small leather goods such as a laptop case, a medium sized pouch, a coin purse, a small zip-around wallet and a Scotchgrain lanyard, all available in either Scotchgrain or pink grainy leather.
The collection — with prices ranging from HK$6,800 to HK$13,500 for bags; and HK$900 to HK$1,750 for SLGs — is launching today across select Mulberry and Acne Studios stores worldwide, and online. For those of us in Hong Kong, you can nab the items exclusively at Mulberry’s K11 Musea boutique from 5 to 11 November, and the brand’s Harbour City store from 15 November.
