It is undoubtedly one of the most exciting time of the year to be in Hong Kong right now, as we are each busy marking our schedule in anticipation to the return of the annual Art Basel Hong Kong. This year, as we fill our calendars with all the happenings that are about to hit the city, we haven’t forgotten that just five years ago, Hong Kong was barely a blip on the international art world’s radar.
Taking the opportunity to honour those who played significant roles to making our city the art capital it is today, we have recently approached Chantal Wong, one of a handful of young driving forces in Hong Kong’s art scene, to chat about her proudest accomplishments, while she takes us to a few of her favourite artistic hub in the city — including Edouard Malingne Gallery, Asia Art Archive, Things That Can Happen and Wontonmeen — that contribute in nurturing a healthy arts ecosystem for us all.
