If you think that the canine fever over the Chinese Year of the Dog should probably be over by now, renowned Chinese fashion blogger and handbag guru Tao Liang — better known as Mr. Bags — is telling us otherwise.
With over 3.5 million followers on Weibo, countless numbers of supporters on WeChat, and a client list filled with luxury brands such as Givenchy, Louis Vuitton and Fendi, the 24-year-old is currently one of China’s leading influencers, and he has recently been invited by Tod’s for a second design collaboration featuring their iconic Wave Backpack, topped with a very charming twist.

Welcoming back the special “X” stitching as seen on his first project with the Italian brand, Liang played with patches of black, white and pink coloured leather, and ultimately came up with a playful design that resembles the face of an adorable pooch. And as if this major cuteness is not enough to make us surrender our wallets already (or phones, since the bags are also available on WeChat through Liang’s BaoShop and Tod’s WeChat Mini Program), Liang has decided to take the youthful approach even further, completing the bag with two hanging accessories meant to resemble a dog’s drooping ears.

“I’m truly happy for having been able to design a new bag with my favourite brand again. I have always appreciated Tod’s devotion to high quality and craftsmanship,” says Liang. Only 500 pieces of this special Wave backpack were produced and 300 of them were sold within a mere hour following its recent official launch in China, but the brand has made sure to reserve a limited quantity for Hong Kong fans to enjoy.
The Tod’s x Mr. Bags special Wave backpack is now available at Tod’s Harbour City and Landmark boutiques — grab them now while you still can.
