The designers Viktor & Rolf have been the driving force behind their eponymous brand since 1993, creating haute couture collections that are both innovative and timeless, and they continue to be a powerful force in fashion design. Now, the designer duo have branched out to release their first full wedding collection. Though the designers have released wedding-specific capsule collections in the past, this is their first complete bridal range.
The collection, which launches this month, is a collaboration between the fashion house and celebrated wedding-dress designer Justin Alexander. The resulting collection features wedding gowns that bring together elegance and glamour while maintaining Viktor & Rolf’s provocative aesthetic. The Mariage collection pays tribute to the brand’s roots in haute couture while paying homage to Paris, where the fashion house is based.
Regarding the new collection, designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren said, “We have always been fascinated by wedding dresses. A wedding dress is like a story, a small universe in its own right. It is an icon of one of life’s most precious moments. Each dress in this collection has an individual, autonomous character. Our love for wedding dresses is evident considering the many times we have designed them throughout the years.”
Having designed wedding gowns for their H&M collaboration in 2006 and for Princess Mable of Orange-Nassau, in addition to past capsule collections, the designers have plenty of knowledge when it comes to bridal looks.
