As editors at Lifestyle Asia, we’re privileged to get a first look at the most exciting new luxury goods every single day, but with so many new releases rolling out all the time, it’s virtually impossible to cover every single lust-worthy find we have our eyes on. That’s what you’ll find in Weekly Obsessions: a running list of highly covetable items we’re currently mad about — because if it’s on our radar, it should definitely be on yours, too. From the must-have shoe of the moment to age-defying beauty products, scroll down to see what our editors are obsessing over this week.
I’ve always adore Dior’s Grand Bal watch collection for its whimsical 3D-dial designs that have the ability to mentally transport you to a magical universe. This year, the house has released a limited edition Dior Grand Bal Miss Dior Bleue 36mm timepiece (price upon request) with a stunning dial embellished with precious petals — a tribute to Monsieur Dior’s passion for flowers and the famous “Miss Dior” dress. The piece is also equipped with the “Dior Inversé 11 1/” calibre, featuring an oscillating weight that is placed on top of the dial (the movable petals) to add an extra dose of visual interest. —Cindie Chan, Style Editor
Note: This watch, along with the rest of the 2018 Grand Bal pieces, are going on tour in Hong Kong, landing at the house’s Landmark store from now through 13 May; Pacific Place store from 15 to 21 May; and the Elements mall from 23 to 31 May.
Spring/Summer 2018 is all about dangling earrings — the more eye-catching they are, the better. I really like these earrings by Sian Evans (HK$4,130) for their delightful teal colour and beautifully sculpted organic lines. Not only are they designed and handmade in London, but they’re also made using ethically sourced gold, silver and precious stones, which is what all brands should aim for moving forward. —CC
La Prairie’s new White Caviar collection (HK$5,780/60ml) coincides with the brand’s Art Week collaboration with Swiss artist Julian Charrière. Utilising the ingredient Lumidose, this latest stroke of genius from the science-minded beauty brand boasts itself as the current most powerful inhibitor of human tyrosinase, the enzyme required to create melanin. Powered to eliminate dark spots as well as rejuvenate and firm skin, it’s also an exquisitely light, airy and easily absorbed cream that makes up the final, luxurious step of a full La Prairie ritual. Just in time for Mother’s Day, if you’re looking for the ultimate in phenomenal pampering for Mum, it’s certainly worth the splurge. —Evelyn Lok, Associate Editor
Elevate your office wardrobe with a splash of summery colours with Bottega Veneta’s Isabella pumps (HK$5,350), featuring a beautiful patent finish and an elegant, slim silhouette. I especially love the heels that’ve been unexpectedly painted with a dipped aesthetic, highlighting the embossed intrecciato pattern in an artistic and contemporary way. — CC
We’ve long been fans of Aussie ayurvedic aromatherapy brand Subtle Energies (our editorial team periodically spritzes the zesty and apparently productivity-boosting Aura Protection Body Mist during dull afternoons). Launching in time for Mother’s Day is the ultimate little gift set (HK$550, available at Joyce Beauty and the Four Seasons Spa) for jet setting and practical-minded mums, featuring rose, which is typically used in ayurveda to enhance the heart chakra, helping to open up to happiness and abundance. The set includes the indulgent Rose & Cardamom hand cream (50g), Pure Indian Rose Hydrosol spray (50ml) to calm stressed skin and spirit, and a delicious Rose Petal Lip Balm (4.4g) all presented in a spa linen pouch. — EL
