Christian Dior’s Mimirose earrings

Weekly Obsessions

I’m all about simplicity and intricate details when it comes to accessories, and the fine jewellery pieces from Dior’s Mimioui and Rose des vents collections have been on my wish list for awhile now. Their delicate style and dainty designs work so well for everyday styling. Now, in celebration of Dior Joaillerie’s 20th anniversary, Victoire de Castellane, creative director of Christian Dior‘s fine jewellery division, has brought together the signatures of these two collections — the fine chains and precious stones of Mimioui and the delicate, twisted rice grain settings of Rose des vents — to give us a new series of elegant jewels dubbed the Mimirose. The new jewellery line features gold embellished choices of diamonds, rubies or emeralds in sets of three. I am especially interested in these earrings, with rubies set on 18k pink gold (HK$11,800) for a colourful and captivating accent to my everyday attire. —Cindie Chan, Style Editor

Orlebar Brown “Thunderball” swim shorts

I’m uncomfortable showing my legs at the best of times, but if the occasion truly calls for it — a summer in Amalfi perhaps? — it’s good to be prepared. Renowned London brand Orlebar Brown have teamed up with James Bond to inject some much-needed sixties verve back into swimwear, and the result is a thigh-high short (approx HK$1,942) that will take you seamlessly from beach to bar. Modelled after the swim shorts worn by Sean Connery in Thunderball (1965), this style takes its cues from classic men’s tailoring — eschewing the predictable drawstring fastening for a more distinctive button down waistband. Harpoon gun and pithy one-liners sold separately. —Randy Lai, Staff Writer

Gentle Monster x Fendi sunglasses

weekly obsessions

I often feel like a lot of brand-name sunglasses are designed for those with Western facial features, and I assume that’s one of the reasons why Korean eyewear brand, Gentle Monster, has seen such success. Having garnered a huge celebrity following (especially amongst K-pop stars), the brand offers trendy shades with Asian features in mind, and often collaborates with top brands and designers around the world such as Ambush, Alexander Wang and Xander Zhou. The brand has recently teamed up with Fendi to roll out a capsule collection of sunglasses in different styles. While I do really enjoy the look of the Gentle Fendi No.1 for its contemporary silhouette with bold (but not overpowering) logos, I think the Gentle Fendi No.2 (HK$2,910), as seen on Korean actress Lee Sung Kyung above, would offer a more timeless addition to any shades collection. —CC

adidas by Raf Simons’ RS Ozweego sneakers

weekly obsessions

Raf Simons might have left Calvin Klein, but his style game, as always, remains strong. The designer has once again teamed up with adidas, and rolled out a series of new iterations for his iconic Ozweego sneakers. (For those not in the know, Simons was doing chunky sneakers long before Balenciaga’s Triple S came along and riffed on the ugly sneaker trend.) Though these are actually sneakers for men, and probably don’t come in sizes that work on my petite-sized feet, the new style with mirrored TPU film coating is just so great to look at, and contrasts beautifully with the leather uppers that come in colours of black, white, grey, navy blue, red, and pink. My personal favourite is the navy blue version (approx. HK$2,194), pictured above. —CC
