Givenchy ID93 bag
In addition to the 10 new designer bags to bag for the Spring/Summer 2020 I’ve previously featured, there’s also a number 11 that just missed the cut; nonetheless, I thought I could interest you with it over here. This all-new bag, named ID93, is created by the house of Givenchy, and was debuted on the SS20 runway (HK$18,900 for size medium; HK$25,900 for size large) to complement the soft attitude and oversized volumes of the ready-to-wear pieces.
The name is taken from the era that celebrated minimalism and flowing shapes, and it features a supple construction with knot details, cousu retourné straps that are twisted, braided and stitched by hand, and a 2G signature enveloped in ultra-soft calf leather. There are variations that are made from hand-woven raffia, which happens to be the key natural material of the season. —Cindie Chan, Style Editor
Fresh Kombucha Essence NYC Edition
Chances are, by now you’ve settled into a decently comfortable routine lately of commuting between your bed and desk. We should all do our part to ‘flatten the curve’ in the current pandemic, yet in our commendable efforts to ensure the safety of people in our community, some basic steps in what was once our daily routine may have fallen by the wayside — for instance, switching pyjama pant to pyjama pant from day to night now that you probably don’t have to dress for work, or forgoing sunscreen since you’ll just be sitting in front of your laptop all day.
Truth is, even staying indoors demands a certain level of skin protection, and one of my favourite go-tos is Fresh’s Black Kombucha Facial Treatment Essence (HK$860), now available in a lovely limited edition design paying homage to the brand’s roots in New York City (and coincidentally one of the hardest hit cities by coronavirus at the moment).
Powered by fermented black tea, this post-cleansing step delivers threefold pollution defence against indoor and outdoor particles that cause oxidative stress on our skin — and what lead to fine lines, dry and dull skin. It also protects against the harmful effects of light pollution from our devices. Working from home? Used religiously, it’s just the thing that will leave your skin looking even more radiant when all of this blows over. —Evelyn Lok, Associate Editor
AMI heart logo hoodie
During these fitful times we’re living in, it’s vital you stay cheery and encourage a sunny disposition amongst those who are nearest and dearest to you. Nowadays, clothing might seem like a total frivolity, yet a chuckle-worthy shirt or nonsensical knit can be a surprisingly effective tool for stomaching the horrific real world events that are unfolding around us at terminal speed. Regrettably, the paunchy gelatinous mass that is my body prevents me from donning gear like this AMI hoodie (HK$1,935) but it’s the exact shade of joyful we all desperately need right now.
Sweats have always played an integral role in the collections of award-winning French designer Alexander Mattiussi and this season is no different: dyed in a fabulous shade of fuchsia, this hoodie plays the part of both statement piece and staple. Admittedly, the loopback jersey is a tad warm for this time of year in Hong Kong; but since we’re all currently under house arrest, I say you crank the AC and imagine the wintry landscape in which you’re going to enjoy your first post-pandemic holiday. Until then, play dress up at home and (for God’s sake) wash your hands. —Randy Lai, Watches Editor
