Weekly Obsessions: Louis Vuitton’s Taïgarama bag, Van Cleef & Arpels’ Two Butterfly ring and more

As editors at Lifestyle Asia, we’re privileged to get a first look at the most exciting new luxury goods daily, but with so many new releases rolling out all the time, it’s all but impossible to cover every single lust-worthy find we have our eyes on. That’s what you’ll find in Weekly Obsessions: a running list of highly covetable items we’re currently mad about — because if it’s on our radar, it should definitely be on yours, too. From the must-have shoe of the moment to age-defying beauty products, scroll down to see what our editors are obsessing over this week.

Weekly Obsessions: Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton Taïgarama outdoor messenger bag

There’s so much that I need to carry onto the plane when I travel — my passport, laptop, vanity bag, water bottle and so on — and up until now I’ve been carrying an additional large tote bag on top of my handbag every time I fly. Don’t get me wrong, the shopper tote that I have is actually rather stylish and nice (it’s Celine), but it would be much more convenient if it’s something that I can just fling across my body as I take off. Cue the Louis Vuitton Taïgarama outdoor messenger bag (HK$14,500), part of a newly launched collection that is relaxed yet sophisticated, modern yet classic. It’s made from the house’s signature Taïga leather, paired with the iconic monogram canvas in a range of vibrant shades for a contemporary vibe. The strap is also adjustable, which is very important as it helps cater to people with different heights and sizes. Yes it is a men’s bag, but why should that matter? —Cindie Chan, Style Editor

Weekly Obsessions: Dior

Dior Forever Skin Glow Foundation
With all the running around of the past week for Art Basel and the inevitable slew of press functions and parties that came with it, I’ve seemed to have found a superior foundation that helps me fake a healthy-looking glow even with the lack of sleep and back-to-back champagne-fuelled nights. I’m talking about the the Dior Forever Skin Glow (HK$470), which incorporates a new dewy finish adding onto the recent reformulation of the beloved Forever fluid foundation line. Suffering from some dry skin patches and breakouts at the beginning of the week, the Skin Glow worked incredibly well layered on top of my skin rescue lotions and serums, helping to fake awesome skin with a visibly smoothened effect. It also touts a 24-hour wear formula now, which is handy even though I try to be as diligent as possible in removing makeup before bed. I always forget to reapply foundation and aside from a few creases later in the day on my forehead and under the nose, I basically just applied in the morning and forgot about it without any worries. —Evelyn Lok, Associate Editor

Weekly Obsessions- Van Cleef and Arpels

Van Cleef & Arpels Two Butterfly Between the Finger ring

Nature has always been a fundamental element in all the creations at Van Cleef & Arpels. As we step into Spring this 2019, the maison celebrates its arrival with a series of new creations full of elegance and grace. My favourite amongst the collection is this Between the Finger ring (HK$159,000) from the Two Butterfly collection, which features two dancing butterflies crafted from yellow gold and set with lapis lazuli and diamonds. The butterflies were deliberately placed in an asymmetrical position, which makes them seem ever more lively, while the mysterious midnight blue hue of the lapis lazuli gleams beautifully against the warmth of yellow gold and the sparkle of diamonds. —CC

Weekly Obsessions- The Playground

Glossier Play’s The Playground
Glossier’s millennial pink palace in NYC makes for any makeup junkie’s pilgrimage, especially if you’re coming from Asia where its highly coveted products aren’t yet shippable from its online store. Recently debuting a makeup arm (featuring Donte Colley, Insta-famous motivational dancer) named Glossier Play, the range includes high octane glitter gelees that likely makeup goddess Pat McGrath herself would nod approval at; gorgeous silky highlighters; waterproof eyeliners in an assortment of unconventional colours and a bold, vinyl-finish lip lacquer. They’re all dressed in Glossier’s signature minimalist, almost-90s aesthetic which makes me thoroughly obsessed with all of them. Psst… for any friends coming back or visiting soon from the US, I want The Playground (approx. HK$470), the set which includes one of each makeup item. —EL
