As editors at Lifestyle Asia, we’re privileged to get a first look at the most exciting new luxury goods every single day, but with so many new releases rolling out all the time, it’s virtually impossible to cover every single lust-worthy find we have our eyes on. That’s why we’re starting this Weekly Obsessions feature: to offer you a running list of highly covetable items we’re currently mad about — because if it’s on our radar, it should definitely be on yours, too. From the must-have shoe of the moment to age-defying beauty products, scroll down to see what our editors are obsessing over this week.
It’s never too early to dream of a vacation, and this Miu Miu straw bag (HK$7,150) will definitely be on my packing list. The raw materials such as the woven straw body and the colourful fabric handles immediately brings to mind summer vibes, while the luxurious satin lining and hand-applied leather logo patch keeps me feeling chic, stylish, and on top of the world. — Cindie Chan, Style Editor
Paul Andrew has always been one of my favourite shoe designers, so when he went over to Salvatore Ferragamo to head up the accessories department (and now the entire creative department for womenswear), I was thrilled to see what he would cook up — and indeed I wasn’t disappointed. I absolutely adore his modern reinterpretation of the iconic Ferragamo Flower Heel, and I particularly adore the Foulard collection (from HK$5,600) filled with high tech florets on removable silk foulard, elegantly tied around the ankle. —CC
We’ve got a taste of the upcoming onslaught of summer heat already, and devotees of La Mer’s moisturising magic will be pleased to discover the brand’s latest product that’s perfectly suited for the Hong Kong scorch. The new Moisturising Cool Gel Cream (HK$1,500/30ml; HK$2,700/60ml) features the brand’s famous “Miracle Broth” which powers skin renewal and heals signs of inflammation with intense hydration, anti-oxidising lime tea concentrate, and a calming and cooling kelp gel. The new texture is informed by a new micro oil gel cream capsule technology: made up of millions of gel capsules built by micro-droplets of Miracle Broth, specialised oils and a core made of creme emollients to give bursts of cooling freshness and deep hydration. Fast-absorbing, we’re sure this is to become a mainstay in our summer skincare regime. —Evelyn Lok, Associate Editor
Any style lover is sure to have at least one pair of each of the classic designs (aviators, cat-eye, wayfarer, amongst others) in their eyewear collection, but it’s really a lot more fun to push your boundaries every now and then and experiment a little. For its SS18 fashion show, Giorgio Armani introduced a series of new D’artiste sunglasses (HK$2,300) that are inspired by a strong and free artistic spirit. Featuring a classic round shape and eccentric oversized floral-patterned mirrored lenses, they come in three colours and would look brilliant with just a simple t-shirt, or even a colourful summer dress. —CC
In this kind of indecisive spring weather, it can be as much of a headache thinking of how to dress as it is for how to treat our skin — particularly when you have combination skin, the most indecisive skin type with complex needs. Typically plagued by dry cheeks and an oilier T-zone, as well as a greater tendency for sensitive skin, such individuals are in luck: We’re obsessed with Aesop’s latest In Two Minds range, targeting and restoring the delicate balance between oily and dry for combination skin types with a three-step suite: a mild, gel-based cleanser (HK$240/100ml) containing salicylic acid, clearing sebum without aggravating pores; a facial toner (HK$255/100ml) packed with niacinamide and pentanol to soothe and balance the skin, and an ultra-soothing, herbaceous facial hydrator (HK$ 415/60ml) featuring omega-rich oils of Andiroba, anti-inflammatory Copaiba and anti-oxidising Acai. —EL
