As editors at Lifestyle Asia, we’re privileged to get a first look at the most exciting new luxury goods every single day, but with so many new releases rolling out all the time, it’s virtually impossible to cover every single lust-worthy find we have our eyes on. That’s what you’ll find in Weekly Obsessions: a running list of highly covetable items we’re currently mad about — because if it’s on our radar, it should definitely be on yours, too. From the must-have shoe of the moment to age-defying beauty products, scroll down to see what our editors are obsessing over this week.
I have an obsession with subtle textures and muted colours; I think they show sophistication, and speak volumes in their own way. That’s why I adore these Mannie pumps from Malone Souliers (HK$4,078 from Matchesfashion): They’re handcrafted in Italy and made from raffia in an elegant light brown hue, topped with a wide knitted elastic strap featuring a chevron motif in a midnight blue colour. The curved silhouette is absolutely gorgeous, and actually contours and flatters your foot in the most beautiful way. —Cindie Chan, Style Editor
Like most other Hong Kong ladies, I’m rather petite so high-waisted skirts really help to visually elongate my legs. For Fall 2018, Victoria Beckham is launching designs that embrace the contours of the female form, and this skirt is definitely going onto my wish list for the coming season for its very flattering waistline, modern aesthetic and interesting details, which should work easily with any basic sweater or t-shirt in your wardrobe. —CC
This new glitter eyeshadow (HK$270) by Hourglass was love at first swipe for me — and no, I’m not talking about dating apps. The new weightless creamy formula glides on like nothing, but delivers high octane pigment and shine even with the smallest touch of the finger. It’s fit for travel or perfect for the lazy glam girl, with the little pot pretty much a one-and-done step in your makeup routine. You can achieve a gorgeously 3D, subtly smoky effect, or blend it out even more for a sheer glitz, which works equally well as a sultry body glitter for the shoulders and decolletage. Available in five warm metallic shades that flatter any skin tone, I adore the fiery copper Blaze for the lids, while the rosy Aura and champagne gold Reflect I can see being particularly versatile enough for the cheeks. —Evelyn Lok, Associate Editor
When it comes to daily luggage, Acate is one of those little gems that tends to fly under the radar. The Italian brand — well represented amongst a certain type of independent Japanese retailer — specialises in bags made from shrunken leather; a material prized amongst aficionados for its textured yet supple handle. The brand’s “Ostro” (HK$14,000) is arguably their secret weapon: a carryall designed around a smart space-saving feature. Thanks to the resizeable side adjusters and a large top-flap (which can be tucked into the bag itself) the Ostro alternates between duty as a daily tote and a carryall capable of transporting 48 hours’ worth of essentials. What’s more, the bag’s internal space is neatly subdivided into a variety of compartments. Lined entirely in suede, it’s clear that the designers at Acate aren’t ones for cutting corners. Now available (in tan, sand and brown) at Attire House. —Randy Lai, Staff Writer
You already buy incredibly specific luxury beauty products: from eye serums to firming lotions just for those two lines on your neck; so why won’t you dedicate space in your bathroom shelf for skincare devoted to your bikini line? Scandi-cool beauty brand The Perfect V recently launched at Joyce Beauty — a purveyor of luxury V-line cleansers, moisturisers, serums, finishing sprays and more. I’m a fan of the VV Serum (HK$440 from Joyce), a pearlescent, velvety lotion that’s a must-have to soothe the bikini area especially if you shave, wax or laser. Feel like it’s a little out of your comfort zone? I’d recommend starting with the VV sheets (HK$190 from Joyce): balancing cleansing wipes that have quietly changed my airplane travel game — now a must when I fly long-haul. They’re also perfect for throwing in the gym bag, for hiking and camping, or anywhere you know the toilets are going to be gnarly. —EL
