What to wear to Centrestage in Hong Kong

September is finally here and for style hounds around the world, that means one thing and one thing only: it’s time for Fashion Week. Though the big shows will be taking place in New York, London, Paris and Milan, a brand-new fashion event is coming to Hong Kong this week, from 7–10 September. Taking place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Centrestage will bring home-grown and international brands together to show off their latest designs.

Well-known brands such as Anteprima, I.T. and Marimekko will be showing their Spring/Summer 2017 collections alongside Hong Kong designers like Kenax Leung, amongst others. For this special occasion, we’ve styled five outfits that combine local and international labels so you can dress to impress.

Fun and flirty

Centrestage - youth culture

Beyond Closet is a Korean fashion brand that’s currently on the rise; their Youth Culture sweater adds a streetwear edge to your look and provides an intriguin contrast with Roksanda’s floor-length skirt. Balance it out with a simple ring, local handbag and sparkling shoes.

Get the look: Beyond Closet sweater (approx. HK$500), Roksanda skirt (HK$8,866), Repossi ring (HK$27,195), local market bag and Gucci heels (HK$7,100).

Très chic

centrestage - casual

Nothing beats an outfit that’s as stylish as it is effortless. A well-made trenchcoat is a must-have staple in any wardrobe, and it can add an elegant touch to your favourite pair of jeans. Top it off with Anteprima’s sheer shirt, a sculptural ring, statement bag and patent-leather boots to add some edge.

Get the look: Rachel Comey trenchcoat (HK$5,431), Anteprima shirt (HK$7,695), Vetements jeans (HK$7,373), Sophie Buhai ring (HK$5,300), Loewe bag (HK$26,600) and Valentino boots (HK$6,900).

Centrestage - retro

Futurism has been big in recent seasons, with Louis Vuitton leading the trend. Emilio Pucci’s sweater features a captivating design that is perfectly styled with black and white skirt by Marimekko. All you need is a pair of oversized earrings and some chunky boots to match.

Get the look: Emilio Pucci sweater (HK$8,290), Marimekko skirt (HK$2,995), Marni earrings (HK$4,100) and 3.1 Phillip Lim boots (HK$7,490).

Monochromatic mix and match

Centrestage - monochrome

Oversizing your clothes is a new trend this fall and we love the idea of combining loose silhouettes with some tailored essentials. Create a chic look with an oversized coat on top of a sequin crop top and baggy white pants. Finish it off with a simple necklace, colourful belt and clean white sneakers.

Get the look: Isabel Marant coat (HK$10,550), Saint Laurent top (HK$14,500), Ffixxed Studios pants (HK$2,700), Sophie Buhai necklace (HK$4,268), Valentino belt (HK$11,100) and Common Projects sneakers (HK$3,400).

centrestage - quirky

The seventies trend has been around for seasons, but we’re not tired of it just yet. To nail this look, a retro jacket is key. Wear it with a shirt and bow, denim skirt and statement mules. All you need is a pair of small golden hoops and a vintage-looking bag to top it all off.

Get the look: Saint Laurent jacket (HK$9,940), Vivetta shirt (HK$3,295), A.P.C skirt (HK$640), Theodora Warre earrings (HK$606), Marni bag (HK$24,400) and Prada shoes (HK$6,000).
