What to wear to Clockenflap 2017

Get excited, because Hong Kong’s biggest annual music and arts festival, Clockenflap, is just days away. For its 10th edition, organisers are bringing in a better-than-ever line-up of international acts — including England’s trip hop legends Massive Attack, Brit-pop favourite Kaiser Chiefs, chart-topping grime rapper Stormzy, as well as beloved Canadian indie-rock chanteuse Feist, American indie act The Dandy Warhols, Danish singer-songwriter , our very own pop rocker Supper Moment, and many others — and we can’t wait to get into our best festival attire and dance the entire weekend away.

This year, we’ve decided it’s time to ditch the crochet tops, fringed skirts, floppy hats and all those typical festival pieces that are simply getting way too repetitive and — honestly? — quite boring. Instead, we look to the newest and latest trends of the Fall/Winter 2017 season to pull together three outfit suggestions for you, so all you have to do is get your tickets and get ready for a weekend of fun!

Look 1: Oversized denim jacket + belt + light tint sunglasses

Clockenflap 2017

We all have a denim jacket somewhere in our closet, but thanks to Rihanna and Gigi Hadid, there’s now a whole new way of wearing it. Pick one that’s oversized and slouchy, then wear the jacket off-shoulder with a belt on top to define your waist. Wear that over a cropped tee and skinny leather pants, and top off with a pair of chunky boots and light tint sunglasses for added personality.

Get the look: Stella McCartney oversized star embroidered denim jacket (HK$8,840) / Adaptation Adapt or Die T-shirt (HK$1,757) / IRO Belizana belt (HK$3,196) / Ann Demeulemeester stretch-leather skinny pants (HK$7,047.88) / Burberry Everdon buckled ombré leather ankle boots (HK$7047.88) / Sunday Somewhere Goldie round-frame gold-tone sunglasses (HK$1,965)

Look 2: Winter florals + bustier/bra top + belt bag

Clockenflap 2017

Florals don’t always have to be summery and bright, and this floral-printed top has the perfect balance of mystery and whimsy. Layer on a velvet bustier top for an added touch of edginess, and also a pair of wide-leg pants and ankle boots for a contemporary flair. Don’t forget to finish up with a belt bag, so you can leave both hands free for drinks and Clockenflap selfies.

Get the look: Preen by Thornton Bregazzi Bernadetta cutout floral-print stretch-crepe de chine top (HK$2,640.21) / Preen by Thornton Bregazzi Penelope striped jersey and velvet top (HK$4,572.07) / Stella McCartney cropped high-rise wide-leg jeans (HK$4,300) / Prada Cahier convertible belt bag (HK$12,900) / Proenza Schouler curved-heel leather ankle boots (HK$5,496)

Look 3: Vinyl jacket + graphic tee + distressed sneakers

Clockenflap 2017

Not only do vinyl jackets make you look really badass (perfect for a rock-and-roll vibe), they’re also one of the biggest coat trends from the Fall/Winter 2017 runways. Wear a graphic tee underneath for its low-key, casual-cool vibe, and finish off with a pair of distressed sneakers, so you can dance the night away in style (yes, it’s actually on trend) without having to worry about ruining your shoes at all.

Get the look: 3.1 Phillip Lim cropped vinyl jacket (HK$5,190) / Saint Laurent printed cotton-jersey t-shirt (HK$3,490) / Christopher Esber Pistol mini skirt (HK$3,695) / Golden Goose Deluxe Brand Super Star distressed leather and suede sneakers (HK$2,335)
