A blend of contemporary Burmese style and old-world grandeur, the Rosewood Yangon is here to charm us with its exquisite beauty. It’s no surprise that Myanmar has welcomed this new landmark building, given that it’s becoming a fast-growing city for travellers and visitors to explore. Whilst Myanmar is precisely one of the most captivating places, it’s still one of the most undiscovered destinations — but this could soon change.

Bringing a new spark to the city, the Rosewood Yangon is not only one of the most glamours hotels in Myanmar, but also the city’s first ultra-luxury hotel. The hotel has been honoured by the prestigious 31st Yangon Heritage Trust Blue Plaque in recognition of commemorating the building’s deep historic significance and continuing the legacy. Location

The Rosewood Yangon is nestled in the heart of the historic centre, enveloped by the famous Strand and Sule Pagoda Roads. The extravagant hotel is also housed in one of the grandest and most elite buildings, built during the colonial era. On the banks of the Irrawaddy River, the hotel features an impressionable appearance with a dramatic row of three-storey-high original ionic colonnades.

Rooms & Design

As you step inside the hotel and pass through the grand iron-framed doors, be dazzled by the three immense 1920s chandeliers and a beautiful mural by famed local artist Than Kyaw Htay, featuring sunset-bathed pagodas floating over the rugged landscape.

Inside, the Rosewood Yangon brings a collaboration of leading interior designers to transform the historical heritage into a stylish contemporary building. New York-based Lillian Wu Studio took over the guestrooms and spa, Tokyo’s Bond Design Studio curated the restaurants and lounges, and the Yangon Heritage Trust and local artisans offered full support. The intricate design not only flows seamlessly, but also highlights the architectural beauty of the heritage building.

The best part? Guests can overlook the city at the patios and balconies and wonderful internal courtyards. The hotel features 205 spacious guest rooms, and suites, which feature one to two bedrooms. From handwoven bed-throws to cushions created by artisans from the non-profit Turquoise Mountain, the Rosewood Yangon surprises you with it’s comfortable, residential-style living spaces.

Dining and Entertainment

The Rosewood Yangon leaves no stone unturned in offering a rich gastronomy journey for guests. Each of the fine-dining restaurants here echo creativity and a vibrant district character.

Try some authentic Burmese cuisine at NOVA European Brasseries where seasonal vegetables and herbs are directly brought from Northern Myanmar and fresh seafood is sourced from the Andaman Sea. For a cup of local artisan coffee and homemade French desserts, look no further, because the Living Room & Patisserie is the perfect place to spend your afternoon teas.

Opening soon, we will also see a Chinese restaurant making its way, as well as the rooftop Y Bar, which will be the only luxury bar in the city with a picturesque view of the Yangon River. If you fancy whisky, then Court Room bar is one world-class bar that will feature premium cigars, too.

Facilities

Expect to see a wide range of facilities, with recreational options including a spa, a rooftop infinity pool, and a fitness studio; extensive meeting facilities featuring a grand ballroom, bridal suite, event studio, heritage salon and three meeting rooms; and a sophisticated retail gallery and barbershop.

The 24-hours Fitness Studio here also offers a trainer and the infinity swimming pool is situated at the rooftop level, to enhance your relaxation experience. We will soon see Rosewood’s signature and award-winning spa brand, Sense, that will feature time-honoured Burmese practices with natural ingredients.
