Think of journeying on a cruise and these first few things will come to mind: claustrophobic cabins, old people playing a game of shuffleboard on the decks, and criminally-expensive WiFi. Even the most luxurious of cruise ships can’t offer you the decent space you need in your own suite, but that’s all about to be changed with the new fleet of Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection set to sail in 2020.

“This unique combination of yachting and cruising will usher in a new way of luxury travel for guests seeking to discover the world,” says The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company president and COO Herve Humler.

First off, voyaging aboard the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection will feel like being on a superyacht or a small ocean liner. Although not all of us may be able to afford the Equanimity, the Ritz-Carlton cruise will come as a close second. Its rooms will be exponentially bigger with 149 suites that can accommodate 298 passengers. Each suite comes with its own private terrace. After all, space is a luxury not many can afford — while they’re on a cruise ship, that’s for sure. And for the more lavish, there are two 138sqm duplex penthouse suites to choose from.

As the yacht collection is set to be a resort out at sea, naturally an onboard spa will be present. After you’re done getting some well-deserved pampering, it’s time to treat yourself to a gastronomic adventure. The yacht collection won’t just feature any regular dining outlet — one of the five restaurants will be helmed by Michelin-starred chef Sven Elverfeld of Aqua in The Ritz-Carlton, Wolfsburg.

For now, the cruise will have itineraries that include St. Maarten to Barbados, Valletta to Athens, a Rome round trip, and a Barcelona to Palma de Mallorca trip. There are also plans for the ship to do a round trip from Reykjavik that goes north of the Arctic Circle.
