The new travel guidelines for Singapore rolled out over the weekend, disrupting travel plans for many.

The COVID-19 crisis has escalated to be a global pandemic since it was first announced in January, and social responsibility and hygiene has never been more pertinent. Even though we hold the most powerful passport in the world, it may be time to stow it away for a bit, at least till the situation improves in the upcoming months.

Still, just because you can’t hop on a plane doesn’t mean you have to stay at home all the time. Our Prime Minister Lee mentioned in a Facebook post on 2 March: “If you’re worried about travel restrictions, consider a staycation at a local hotel.” Indeed, a staycation is always a viable option for anyone looking to escape the humdrum of life. There’s no need to head to the airport two hours earlier for check-in, no more squeezing with others on the plane, no more bland plane food before you arrive at your destination — just sweet, sweet comfort in a home away from home.

Local hotels in Singapore are also rolling out new staycation packages to help curb your boredom. We’ve rounded up nine of the best deals in town for your urban escape down below.

Capella Singapore

Capella Singapore is set in two restored Tanah Merah colonial bungalows that date back to the 1880s, nestled in the heart of Sentosa Island. Its newly unveiled Sentosa Staycation package is valid for stays from now till 30 June 2020, which offers 20 percent off best available rates, as well as S$100 worth of dining credits. For an intimate night out, we recommend dining at Chef’s Table. Here, menus are personalised and then prepared in front of guests’ eyes to immerse them in a truly gastronomic experience. The Sunday Staycation package also offers other additional treats, such as a complimentary rum appreciation class at Bob’s Bar. Early check-in and late check-out available is also available for this package. Other than the package deals, one of our favourite aspects of Capella is the bespoke Capella Curates experience.
