Newly opened on 23 June 2021, Tai Po’s Lung Mei Beach is a 200 metre long stretch of brand new sun-seeking opportunities for Hong Kong’s beach goers.

Never at a loss for options when it comes to lazy days by the sea, you’ll often find us sipping on a cool beer or soaking up rays on some of the best beaches here in Hong Kong come summer. However, brand new on the sun-seeking scene, Lung Mei Beach in Tai Po is now open to the public and provides an additional option for those looking to lay by the water this weekend. In the works since 2016, this man-made beach can be found next to Tai Mei Tuk and Plover Cove Reservoir, perfect for a post-hike dip. Here’s what to know…

What to know about Tai Po Lung Mei Beach:

Facilities available to the public:

Equipped with public facilities such as changing rooms, shower facilities and toilets, there will also be a lifeguard on duty 9am to 6pm every day between April and October. This service will be extended to 8am to 7pm on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays during the peak period from June to August.

Managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Lung Mei Beach will have 96 bicycle parking spaces.

Located near to Tai Mei Tuk Public Transport Interchange, beach-goers can hop on bus No. 75k or 275R (available on Sundays and public holidays only) or flag green minibus 20C from from MTR Tai Po Market Station and alight at Lo Tsz Tin – about a two minute walk to the beach from here.
