Got hair problems? You are not alone. Which is to say that these 5 best DIY hair masks can go a long way to help.

Deep treatment hair masks pamper your scalp, and kick off problems like brittle, lustreless or frizzy strands. And the fact that these hair masks are home-prepared, is just the cherry on top. Since we can’t really visit the beauty store just yet, consider getting a salon-worthy hair treatment without leaving your home.

All you need is a dose of moisturising, nourishing, and scalp-friendly ingredients to get down with this natural beauty game. Best of all, these ingredients have been lying in your kitchen anyway. So why not let your hair reap the benefits too? Here are some easy hair masks recipes that you could whip up in your kitchen to treat every hair type.

For dry or frizzy hair

Ingredients: Bananas, olive oil, and honey

If you’re anything like us, you’ve been munching on those bananas for a good source of potassium, but may have over-stocked them at home. Rather than throwing them away, simply use them to create a nourishing mask for your dry hair. Mash bananas, add olive oil, and pour some honey on top. Whilst olive oil is rich in fatty acids, honey does the work of reducing breakage and frizz, thereby conditioning and bringing back shine.

For overall healthy hair

Ingredients: Avocado, lemon, olive oil, honey, lemon, and essential oil

Kourtney Kardashian not only drinks her smoothie but applies it on her hair, too. Inspired by her morning green smoothie, this hair mask is great for overall hair health. Whilst avocado helps detangle your hair, lemon soothes itchy scalps and has antibacterial properties. Olive oil is great to protect your hair from heat and honey is soothing for your hair.

All you have to do is pour some lemon, avocado, olive oil, honey, and essential oil if you would like fragrance, and throw it all in the blender. Leave it on for about 45 minutes and admire the result.

To promote hair growth and eliminate dandruff

Ingredients: Ginger and coconut oil

If you’ve been down about hair growth, this all-natural hair mask will make up for it. Simply cut and peel 2-3 inches of ginger and compound in a blender. Afterwards, take a cloth or strainer and squeeze out the juice. Then add some coconut oil to the ginger juice and mix it well. This home remedy can be applied 2-3 times a week for effective results.

Ginger contains lots of magnesium, potassium, and vitamins that help in making your hair stronger and healthier. It happens to be an effective remedy for hair loss as well. Meanwhile, olive oil is great to improve elasticity and to condition your hair.

To revitalise your hair

Ingredients: Avocado, apple cider, oatmeal, agave, coconut yogurt

Your superfood for skin can be equally effective on your hair too. This purifying treatment of hydrating avocado and an optional oatmeal mask adds oil and revitalises lacklustre hair. This  is your ideal for you.

Simply mix in a bowl ripe avocado, one tablespoon of apple cider, one tablespoon of oatmeal, and one tablespoon of agave and blend well. You can also add coconut yoghurt if you want the desired thickness. Apply it on wet hair and leave it on your hair for 20-30 minutes and then rinse it.

For oily hair

Ingredients: Egg and lemon

Believe it or not, cracking that egg on your head could be the best natural conditioner for your oily hair. Eggs are vitamin-rich, contain fatty acids, and help give your hair that extra boost to feel healthy again. Meanwhile, lemon really gels with oily scalps because lemon juice can absorb excess oil and grease in the scalp. Also, lemon is beneficial for fighting dandruff and contains anti-fungal properties.

So, grab an egg and separate the egg white from the egg yolk. Squeeze one half of a lemon into a bowl and mix it with the egg white until it’s blended well. Apply on your wet hair from top to bottom and wear a shower cap. Let it sit for 30-45 minutes and then rinse it with shampoo and conditioner. Voila, your DIY hair masks are ready.
