Despite the lockdown, 2020 seems to have flown by. Now Christmas, New Year’s, and wedding season are right around the corner. It may not be as big as years past, but we can go big in spirit and with our glam. We asked 10 influencers to share their must-have, absolute go-to products for a fun, glamorous look. We’re talking favourite lipstick shades, highlighters, concealers, and more.
Daswani is a social media manager at Nykaa and a beauty influencer, in her own right. She’s always got the tea on the latest in beauty, so we take her recommendations pretty seriously.
“I love the Too Faced – Born This Way Concealer. It instantly brightens up your undereye area, plus it lasts long, even under masks, and can be used as a foundation too! I just mix it with a little moisturiser to use as a foundation and for my under eyes, I blend it and dab on a little loose powder to set it in. It’s perfect for the festive season!”
Gilani is a stylist, skincare enthusiast, and promoter of everything slow fashion. She’s a self-described ‘wild child’, so everything she does is just a little bit against the grain. And that’s exactly why we love hearing her take on a festive look. Her pick is a well-known, Indian, vegan makeup brand.
“I would say opt for a classic red lip, this festive season. But, make sure it’s smudge-proof, so your mask doesn’t get stained. I’m loving Kiro beauty and their stain-proof lipsticks. I’m also big on the packaging, so I appreciate their graphics and the convenience of the magnetic click, that their lipstick bullets have.”
Mulchandani is a social media expert, writer, and fashion, and beauty influencer. If you follow her page, you’ll recognise her favourite look right away. She’s got those unmistakable curls, set to perfection and loves a little dab of shimmer in the inner corners of her eyes. So, her pick was a no-brainer.
“I love the classic, Bobbi Brown shimmer bricks. They’re so versatile. I can use them as a highlighter or eyeshadow. A quick swipe and I can highlight the inner corners of my eyes, too. I love creating multiple looks with one product, especially for the festive season.”
Beauty writer and self-professed beauty aficionado, Patel is quick to share her thoughts, reviews, and how-tos on all things beauty. Her Instagram is filled with do-able tutorials and recommendations, so we had to ask her what she’s going to be using the most this festive season.
“I’m going to be sticking to one of my all-time favourite products, the Colorbar Glide Eye Pencil in Cocobar 02. It’s creamy, but not too creamy. It’s matte, super blend-able, and can have multiple uses. Personally, I love creating a smokey eye with it.”
Sakarya is a fashion, beauty, and lifestyle blogger. She documents her super interesting life, living everywhere from Thailand to Hong Kong, and now Michigan, USA. Margi recently started her own, eponymous fashion label. But, above all else, her first love is playing dress-up.
“This festive season, I’m sticking to my trust and most loved highlighter: Champagne Pop by Becca Cosmetics. It’s a cult-favourite for a good reason. No highlighter blends quite as well and suits so many varying skin tones.”
Nikita rose to “influence” as a TikTok star, but after its ban in India, she’s creating some great content on Instagram. She’s got a distinct aesthetic and an ever-growing following. Nikita enjoys sharing her skincare and makeup favourites, from time to time, so we asked her to recommend one for the festive season.
“Sorry, but I can’t say just one, because I think great skin is your best accessory this festive season. And I use two things to achieve that. The first is my Kalhans night serum, which gives me a fresh glow the next morning. Second, is my Benefit Cosmetics, Boi-ing Industrial Strength Concealer. With these two products, my skin looks rejuvenated.”
Rohina is a textile designer, interior enthusiast, home stylist, and CEO and home store, AA Living. Apart from this, she is also an influencer and lifestyle blogger. Sprinkled amongst all the interior stuff, she shares her takes on beauty, as well. Here’s what she had to say about glam, festive makeup this year.
“I’m all about the glow. I love a glow that looks natural and just, lit from within. So, I would recommend two things. One is the L’Occitane Immortelle Divine Serum because it gives you the right hydration and illumination that you need under makeup. And then, there’s the Farsali Jelly Beam highlighter gel. I swear by it!”
Jagannathan is a Chennai-based actor, model, and Star Sports presenter. She’s also an influencer with a strong following of over 105k people. On her page, she shares a lot about her life, COVID diaries, work, modelling career, and more. So, we were curious to know what she recommends for the season.
“The Pat McGrath Dark Star 006 kit is out of this world! It has everything you need for a festive look, and I swear by it. It’s perfect, even for this year’s mini Diwali celebrations. The eye gloss is probably my favourite because it amps up even simple kohl look into something magical.”
Guptaroy is a renowned illustrator and graphic designer. She creates funny, desi, colourful, and rather ironic illustrations that act as a commentary on our current times, especially on influencers and fashion. It’s nothing too heavy, but her work has caught the eye of many in the art and fashion industry. She’s collaborated with VOGUE India, Ajio, and more. Since she’s got an iconic style and keen aesthetics, we asked for her favourite makeup product for the festive season. She loves a good beat, after all.
“As is apparent from my illustrations, I love lashes, and Indian women have such nice ones. For any occasion or any look, I recommend a great mascara to pull the look together. I love using the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara.”
She’s a celebrity-fashion-stylist-turned-influencer and boy, do her outfits “influence.” She’s become popular for her well thought out, well put together outfit reels and posts. Shaikh dresses edgy, cool, and fashion-forward, without being intimidating, in the least bit. So, goes without saying, her makeup choices are also all Pinterest-y and cool-girl-esque.
“For the festive season, I would love to play around with palettes. I have two palettes that I can’t get enough of: HUDA Beauty Nude Obsessions Palette and NARS Skin Deep Eye Palette. There are so many looks you can achieve with this, and their powders have amazing blend-ability.”
