Our brands

The smaller the detail, the bigger the impact – that goes for lipsticks too when it comes to bridal beauty. There are a bunch of factors to be considered when deciding your lipstick of choice for your bridal functions – important ones include long-lasting effects, the colour payoff, pigment, and lipstick texture. And while most brides have a personal favourite, there are some shades that are universally flattering, easy on the lips, and super long-lasting. So we asked our five favourite makeup artists to give us best lipsticks for Indian brides that will work wonders irrespective of the skin tone.

Clover Wootton recommends the Lime Crime Velvetines Collection

Lime Crime Velvetines Collection.

“I love its texture and colour payoff . Mix them with a little lip balm or a lip primer and they settle in beautifully on the lips. For a bride with very dry lips, I prefer to use an ILIA lip pencil in a deep hue mixed with a tinted lip balm.”

Elton Fernandez recommends the Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink line

Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink collection

“All colours in this line are highly pigmented, industrial-strength liquid mattes that don’t budge. They can be easily applied because they come with a nice soft wand; the liquid lipstick sets to a very neat matte shade. And no matter how much of eating, drinking, gossiping, and kissing you do, these lipsticks won’t move unless you have a strong makeup remover. My favourite colours are Pioneer, Romantic, and Heroine, and if you’re looking for something subtle, look no further than the shade, Lover.”

Shamita Gogia recommends Sephora’s Nano lip liner in Rose and NYX Cosmetic Shade Leon

Nyx cosmetics

“I am a big fan of using lip liners as lipsticks because they last longer. My favourite is Sephora’s Nano lip liner in the shade Rose, a mix between a pink, peach, and nude. It works well on most skin tones and is neutral enough to go with most outfit colours. Another personal favourite is NYX Cosmetics Soft Matte Lip Cream in the Shade Leon. Again, it’s the perfect neutral shade that goes well with a bright red wedding lehenga or even a white gown. It glides on smoothly, is long-lasting, and since not tested on animals, perfect for vegans and vegetarians.”

Avan Sethna recommends Bobbi Brown crushed liquid lip in rose and peach shades Bobbi Brown

“A stunning rosy nude works for most skin tones and compliments any bridal wear. The recently launched Bobbi Brown crushed liquid lip in peach and rose pink shades are great – they last all night and are moisturising. It also has a beautiful balmy effect. Since it is full-coverage, the colour payoff is awesome, and it also helps that they are paraben- and gluten-free.

Sara Capela recommends Huda Beauty’s Liquid Matte Lipstick in Heartbreaker and Rihanna Stunna Lip Paint in Uncensored

Fenty

“The Huda Beauty is for brides looking for a vibrant and stunning red lip. It stays on very long, is smudge-proof, and does not bleed. The Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid Lip Color in Uncensored is also superbly vibrant and universally flattering shade that sets beautifully. The packaging is also very beautiful.

Jasmeet Kapany recommends MAC’s Ruby Woo and Guerlain’s M306

“Ruby Woo is an all-time favourite, a perfect red. No matter what your skin tone, it will work for you. I also love the shade M306 from Guerlain. It’s the perfect pink-y nude for the day, or for the night if you pair it with an intense smokey eye. It’s not too light so it won’t wash you out.”
