It’s not everyday that M.A.C comes out with an entirely new lipstick collection. We are definitely used to our cult classics, Relentlessly Red, Ruby Woo, Chili and Velvet Teddy – but a few new shades wouldn’t hurt. The fact that M.A.C lipsticks have the best formulations, high-quality pigments and fuss-free packaging does add to the charm. This December, the newest collection with its ombre metallic packaging and signature black casing just hit the marquee. The new M.A.C Cosmetics LOVE ME Lipstick collection features shades and pigments that suit most Indian skin tones.
Launched on December 10, 2019, the collection comes with 24 new lipstick shades and a covetable all-new argan oil-infused formula. There are two things, this lipstick delivers on: hydration and moisture and a hit of pigmented colour that shows no signs of feathering. The good thing, you ask? The way the colour glides on.
We tried out four amazing shades from the collection: La Femme, a sexy, potent brown, Tres Blase, a neat matte nude, favourable on all skin tones, Maison Rouge, a stunning maroon red and Joie De Vivre, a sexy purple, right in time for NYE parties. All of them are soft, easy on the lips and deliver an instant hit of powerful colour and all-day moisture. More than anything, we vouch for their weightless feel and satin-soft finish – the fact that the shades suit every Indian skin tone is an added advantage.
All the colours from the collection are categorised under three shades: Powerful Reds, Shameless Nudes and High-Impact Purples. The reds come in a bunch of colours ranging from crimson, fuchsias, wine and burgundy. Nudes come with beautiful, skin tones of nudes, full-bodied peaches, bare-naked browns and dusty pinks perfect for that neutral look. High-impact purples are so very wearable and they come in fun orchid hues, plums and in offbeat colours like lavender, violet and mauve.
And not just makeup, the LOVE ME Lipstick collection also came out with a new and exciting global campaign. Besides launching beautiful lipstick shades, the Love Me global campaign is all about self-love and self-care – an idea at the heart of all millennials. It’s also a nod to empowerment with Halima Aden, the first contestant to wear a hijab in the Miss Minnesota USA pageant, and just became the first model to wear a burkini in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
Then, there’s the body-positive influencer Amber Wagner, the only soloist dancer for the Houston Ballet, Harper Waters, a well-known and popular YouTuber as well as Puerto-Rican, Bronx-based artist Maxine Ashley, who writes her own music and directs her own videos. Alongside these, we also have Japanese-British pop singer, songwriter and model Rina Sawayama and beauty influencer and transformation artist Frances O’Sullivan.
The lipsticks are priced at Rs 1,700 and are now available on Nykaa.
