Say hello to new Smashbox ambassador Sobhita Dhulipala who also launched the first India-exclusive lipstick Gula-bae.
If there’s a lipstick that has the world rooting for it, it’s Bawse by Smashbox. Hands down the best formulation and the best red in the business. Now the iconic shade seems to be facing stiff competition from a new shade from the same range. Say hello to Gula-bae, the newest shade that’s exclusively made for India. Just like Bawse, created by another Indian celebrity Lilly Singh, this one was created to introduce the new Smashbox ambassador, Sobhita Dhulipala – India’s reigning Netflix queen who has taken the world by storm in the hit show ‘Made in Heaven’.
It’s nice to see Indian celebrities gaining representation in beauty. Estee Lauder companies have finally realised the importance of India having its own beauty icons to look up to. In a move that’s surprising, the brand had Diana Penty for Estee Lauder and Radhika Apte for Clinique and now, in a bigger power move, it’s Sobhita Dhulipala headlining the best lipstick brand in the country.
We are loving the fact that global beauty brands are now looking at tapping the beauty market closely with celebrities that are not only quintessential Bollywood stars but those with a millennial fan following. The brand has to be also applauded for featuring three influencers (Malavika Sitlani, Ankita Srivastava and Debasree Banerjee) in 2019 to showcase their most popular shades.
Sobhita Dhulipala’s introduction comes with an added benefit, a new lipstick that’s made exclusively for Indian girls. A beautiful baby pink that suits all Indian skin tones and is characteristic of Gulabi, India’s favourite flower. This is also the first for Smashbox to have a local ambassador along with the launch of a new lipstick.
The LA-based label is known for their large range of primers and photo studio heritage, but the real Smashbox hero franchise is the Always On Liquid Lipstick – a solid, matte finish liquid lipstick with strong, deep pigments that have acquired quite a big fan following among millennials. As for the Always On Liquid Lipstick shade Gula-bae, it’s going to be a winner only because it’s a versatile hue that will suit most skin tones and is infused with Primer Oil complex to prevent the dryness.
“I am ecstatic to be the first Indian brand ambassador for such an iconic global brand Smashbox and launch the most desirable and versatile pink lipstick- Gula-bae, especially created for the women of India. Smashbox’s long-wearing, quality makeup has an energetic and creative attitude that I truly connect with and love. The shade is quite literally perfect for every occasion, mood and reason,” explains Sobhita Dhulipala on why the hue resonates with her.
India is the first country for Smashbox to have its own lipstick shade, and that is no mean feat. If inclusivity and representation is what the future of beauty is about, Smashbox India has hit the ball out of the park.
Always On Liquid Lipstick in Gula-bae is priced at Rs 2,100
