With diversity and inclusion being the focus of many beauty brands this year, the one-shade-fits-all philosophy is undergoing a makeover. The latest brand to adopt the approach is Estée Lauder India, which recently unveiled a New Double Wear Foundation in 40 shades for every Indian woman.
To drive the point home, the brand tied up with celebrity stylist Shaleena Nathani, actress and model Dayana Erappa, and model Shonali Singh, aside of their Indian brand ambassador Diana Penty, for a campaign that showcased the across-the-board idea of the new range. At the launch event in Mumbai, Penty, dressed in a white pant-suit and flaunting her minimalistic approach to beauty, spoke about the simple albeit powerful idea of the new range and how it fits into the brand’s philosophy.
We caught up with the star to ask her about her beauty tricks, regime, and the skincare tips she swears by.
On Estée Lauder New Double Wear Foundation
I am super happy and privileged to be part of the Estée Lauder family – Double Wear is now my favourite foundation. It’s also true to the kind of makeup I believe in – simple and effortless with emphasis on effectiveness and quality. It looks fresh and easy on the skin. When it’s a busy day, this oil-free, oil-controlling, waterproof makeup keeps me going with its serious staying power. Rattan is the beautiful shade that fits into my skin tone beautifully. It is great to have that one shade that you don’t have to mix with another shade to create your own.
Favourite beauty products to use
The Double Wear Foundation, of course. There are 40+ shades for Indian skin, and it is sheer, buildable, and transfer-resistant. I also love the Advanced Night Repair Serum – another product that I discovered can be used day and night. I am addicted to this serum – once you use it on your skin, you cannot stop.
Three skincare mantras to swear by
When it comes to skin, it’s all about hydration. Drink a lot of water – it plumps and cleanses from within. I also use my moisturiser every day right after I wash my face. I use the Estee Lauder Revitalising Supreme – it’s creamy and moisturising – for the night, and the day cream for the day. I use these both with my Advanced Night Repair. A secret: You can use the serum even on a cut. It’s a multi-purpose skincare product that you need in your skincare kit.
Tips on doing your base
Keep it simple. Prep the skin with a toner and primer, and apply the foundation. Look for a foundation that you can build – but don’t use too much. Apply it in places you need and let it sink in. Use it well so you don’t look cakey.
Prepping your skin
I keep it simple – cleansing, toning, and moisturising. I wash my face with a mild face wash and top it with a serum and then my day care / night care cream.
A foundation tip you learned recently
Add a few Advanced Night repair to your foundation to get a dewy look. It seals it all in and makes the skin glow.
Your definition of beauty
Beauty is confidence, happiness, and personal style. Confidence breeds beauty – that’s the key to being beautiful.
Advice for dusky girls
Learn to love your skin tone. People abroad want to get tanned to look like us – our skin tone is covetable. Indian women skin shades are beautiful – feel and be confident about your skin.
